I actualy discovered /r/MensRights when I was looking through suggested subreddits after making my first account. Read up a bit on the issues here and decided what I believed in. Also: this might be a bit silly, but the fact that the girls at school regularly harass the boys and suffer no consequences from it may have influenced me. Gone Girl's my favourite book as well, so yet another influence.

Your problem is probably definitely more important than mine, but I have a PE teacher who takes every opportunity she has to promote "girl power". In my opinion, girls are already empowered, so why would that be necessary? I haven't called her out on her bullshit yet, but as a female I don't think any punishment that they might give me will be as harsh. It's the summer so I can't do anything about it, but I'm already dreading having to go back to school.

I think the book is revolutionary, in the sense that its portrayal of a female character is much more negative compared to other works of literature. It was my favourite book long before I identified as an MRA. That may have influenced my decision to support the MRM.
