Yesssss!!! This is something I’ve come up against time and time again. Men don’t believe women when we disclose, they try to downplay it and dismiss your experience because the guy in question has never treated them that way (duh? They aren’t attracted to you). I’ve had male friends, partners and even my own brothers do this to me on multiple occasions with different guys who’ve been creeps/inappropriate/ given me the ick. Yes! Happened to me for the first time this year! I've received the usual recruiter messages before so when this guy sent me a message I didn't hesitate to open it - regretted it immediately. We had no connections and don't work in the same industry at all and his message was very creepy and not professional at all. Why are men.

Haha I have worked with so many male academics like this! When I ask them why they never learnt they just shrug and when I keep pushing they don't understand why it's a big deal.
