Yup. It couldn't be the men and boys who have spent generations being devalued, demonized, called misogynists, rapists, and pedophiles... Nope, the real victims here are the women who aren't haaaaappy. WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE POOR LONELY WOMEN?

The thing that made me angry was the feeling that I've had something important stolen from me. I know I'd be a better parent than 95% of the people on earth, but being aware of the risks involved means I can't be that man whose great-grandchildren love to be around. Having that future stripped away by the necessity of self-preservation... it hurts. And it pisses me off. Not traveling the traditional path means that I have more time and resources. I can use those to further my own goals for socie…

When they say "respect", they mean "venerate". Once you make that switch all the statements and complaints about people who "don't respect women" start to make sense.

Was the other person too drunk to know what they were doing? Doesn't matter, you were raped." But you only get to that question if you answered "yes" to "Did the other person know they were having sex with you against your will?" Then the whole thing is nonsense. If someone is too drunk to know what they're doing they by definition cannot know that they are having sex with you against your will, because they're too drunk to know what they're doing. The first question is important to establish me…

Context. This student was bragging to friends. A school with a zero-tolerance sex policy basically has their hands tied here. They can enforce the policy or they can set precedent that the policy is toothless. Religious schools tend to be more forceful when it comes to female promiscuity, not less, so if you have a male teacher and a female student who brags repeatedly to her friends, she's going to get the book thrown at her, too.

Yes, in the same way that we've seen D.A.'s offices and crown prosecutors infer that for years. This is the state of the legal system.

The very end. "Was the other person too drunk to know what they were doing? Doesn't matter, you were raped." Applied equitably, this leads to the notion that both parties were raped. Present legal and social climate interprets that as male rapist and female victim.

Misleading title. Private religious schools often have policies strictly stating disciplinary action for students who aren't abstinent. It's likely he was expelled for willfully violating that policy (repeatedly) and not for being the victim of statutory rape. File this one as WBB or in /r/pussypass if she gets a lenient sentence if you like, but this situation would likely be the same with reversed genders.

We have these miraculous things called computers and databases. Easy fix for double-dipping: take ID or a piece of mail as an address listing, turn away after the first instance of the address. Allow for individual judgment calls on going over the head of the computer to account for multifamily dwellings and the like.

The owning, buying, and selling of blacks and Irish was once the norm in the United States. Doesn't make it any less barbaric or wrong. If a story came out that some hospital was cutting off the left pinky toes of little boys and girls because of some "social norm" we'd be rightly incensed about it, and so would the rest of the world. MGM is no different.

I guess it just comes down to personal preference? So let the boy who owns the penis decide, maybe? Have you ever met anyone who regrets their circ? I, personally, would like to know what it's like to have sex and actually derive pleasure from it. But that couldn't possibly have anything to do with the removal of the most sensitive parts of my anatomy as an infant.

Feminism started out as anti-man. Seneca Falls, the Declaration of Sentiments in 1848. They began with "the people in power are men, therefore men have power" (the apex fallacy) and ignorance of the fact that franchise was limited by property ownership (and thus to one household = one vote), not by gender. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_Sentiments

Standard disclaimer: generalities exist. Insisting they don't makes you a moron, insisting they apply to every individual makes you a bigot. Also, I'm not a psychologist, psychiatrist, or medical doctor - just an observer of humanity. Take this with appropriate grains of salt. Women have, due to socialization, an inherent belief that they are worth helping. If they ask for help, they tend to believe that they will get it. They also tend away from methods that will be disfiguring, preferring pill…

Oregon State '12 here, it's nowhere near as bad as what OP describes but it's on the way. Asking why there can be a women's center with no corresponding men's center gets the standard "men have the whole campus" BS. Looking around at the 60-40 F-M ratio somewhat belies that.

Substance abuse is nearly always self-medication. Something is wrong and the person doesn't have the tools or support system to deal with it, so they self-medicate. Alcohol, drugs, hobbies taken to unhealthy extremes - these are all possible ways of coping with trauma. Given that men are constantly told that they need to be independently strong through the worst life throws at them, most don't have those close friends to support them. Those that do tend to lose them in marriage and be in just as…

Why WOULDN'T a woman want to get married in this country? Because she is aware of the moral hazard of violence-by-proxy and wants none of it. Frankly, if you describe your concerns about marriage backed by facts and a woman keeps pushing for it? Get out. "Here's the gun you'd have pointed at my head for the rest of my life or until you pulled the trigger" being followed by "oh yes I want that" is a clear sign that she doesn't give a damn about you.

How is it anything but a moral argument? The difference between assault and surgery is the consent of the patient. The difference between rape and sex is consent of those involved. The difference between labiaplasty and FGM is consent of the woman. Baby boys in american hospitals are not consenting to being cut. Baby girls in the third world are not consenting to their vulvas being cut. Where is the difference? The crusade against FGM was in every way a moral crusade. It was and is a declaration…

women where I live in the US have consistently told me that they prefer cut. shrug If men overwhelmingly preferred sex with women who had had FGM performed on them as infants it would still be a deplorable and abhorrent practice. Not bad, overall. This little gem of rewriting history is pretty disingenuous, though: In the 1970s...Phyllis Schlafly led opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment. But such anti-feminism was invariably about defending women’s traditional roles. Whitewashing the part influential feminists played in defeating the ERA because "it would be a step backwards". This has never been about equality for those running the show.

Studies have shown time and again that in-group bias (as you put it: "bros before hoes") is strong in women and nearly nonexistent in men. So women are concerned with the welfare of women, and men are concerned with the welfare of women too. The moment men decide that they should support other men we get "misogyny! Mansplaining! Oppressors!" When women do the same they get "gender-traitor! Internalized misogyny! Oppression!" Who's reinforcing traditional gender roles here? It certainly isn't the…

(assuming both men and women have an equal opportunity to acquire it)? There's the rub. This isn't the case. If you have a job as a homemaker (stay-at-home supporting spouse) then your salary is access to your partner's labor. If you quit that job or are fired (divorce) why should you continue to draw a salary for it? Why should that salary for a job you no longer perform be enforced by people in silly uniforms backed by state violence?

The reason so many of us here are anti-feminist is because our reasonable requests are endlessly blocked by those "asshole feminists". Claiming NAFALT (which is true) doesn't change anything because enough feminists are like that, and the vast majority who aren't sit on their hands and do nothing to self-police their movement. All that is required for evil to flourish is for good people to sit by and do nothing. You want anti-feminism to go away? Clean up your movement and take out the trash.

A) There is absolutely no evidence anywhere that feminists were involved in this. You're right. The only thing that would infer feminist involvement is circumstantial evidence. OP made a clickbait title. B) No one was actually accused, so what sort of 'repercussions' would be appropriate? There was allegedly a breach of law in that a false report was allegedly filed. In most jurisdictions that's something that can be prosecuted. If convicted, the most the accused would face is likely a fine.

But out in the real world, it makes sense. Don't send mixed messages. Trying to pursuade people to come forward and then punishing people that do is a mixed message. The key here is that those alleged to have falsely filed get all the same due process protections that those they accused did. Having a forced-to-penetrate statistics should happen regardless of the political dimensions of the discussion. Science is about discovery and finding out something new, something no one has known before. But would this phenomenon be rape? My gut says no, that there is something about "penetration" and "rape" that are somehow coextensive, and that forced-envelopment is a problem that needs its own sphere or thought and research, but I fully admit that could be my intuition talking. Rape is under…

Skip ballroom? Maybe you've only ever seen it on the very basic level, but as soon as you get even slightly involved you discover that every standard dance is designed to be danced with body contact and is much easier when you let yourself be that close to someone else. Worked wonders on my fear of contact after a physically abusive childhood.

As a 26M raised in as nonfeminist an environment as possible (trad-con parents, religious schools), I can vouch that this is not limited to feminist upbringings, though OP's experience is orders of magnitude worse than mine. Hell, it was only months after finding the MHRM that I was able to voice a rejection of those baked-in feelings of shame at finding a woman (gf of a friend) stripping attractive.

Where on earth is easier?? Ballroom, swing, or Latin dance lessons - the "no partner required" ones are perennially female heavy in every town I've had the pleasure of visiting. In some of the more reasonable areas it's even common for the women to make the approach.

We are victims. we asked why we are not taken as adults A victim has no agency in the area of their victimhood. One proclaiming to the skies that they are a victim has abrogated their agency, but one cannot be an adult while insisting on having no agency. To be an adult, a fully realized human, one must embrace all that comes with that label. You can't pick and choose like some cosmic buffet line, total commitment is necessary.

It all comes down to the social idea that men are disposable and women are valuable. Men are disposable, so their preferences and pain are immaterial. Women are valuable, so their preferences guide the world and their pain sets policy. Men will fight for women more than for themselves and the reverse is not true. This is why MGC is seen as okay in the mainstream but FGC is anathema.

That's just me though. Yup, it is. And in an ethical society you don't get to inflict your personal preference for a medically unnecessary amputation on a days-old baby of any gender. You can have your views and preferences of whatever sort you choose. The line is drawn when you start inflicting harm on others.

And what the hell do they expect him to do instead? Just sit back and accept being accused of this? Yes! He should clearly be admonished like a good little worker drone and go back to being objectified, grateful for the divine gift of female attention. /s

Men don't need encouragement to teach - there used to be plenty of male teachers. What we need to be interested in teaching again is to have the current anti-male practices in the field dealt with. So long as a male teacher is instantly suspect of sexual misconduct simply for being a teacher, the rational men will be dissuaded.

Why is this getting downvotes? Taking out a gf's wandering loyalties on the guy she's flirting with is seriously backwards even without getting into the disproportionate response side of the matter.

Advocating for traditionalism and chivalry doesn't make her an ally, because she's still pushing the "women get rights, men get responsibilities" line.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not terribly optimistic. I'll match /u/TrouserTorpedo's 200 doge on no prison time, though.

Oh, I had this terrible thing done to me and it doesn't bother me at all, so clearly my anecdote trumps the basic morality of cutting a baby or child's genitals for no reason. /s You want negative side effects? How about complete sexual dysfunction due to vastly reduced sensitivity (E.D. and lack of sensation). I'm so happy you don't notice any negative effects, but not all of us are so lucky.

It's why she's going to go to prison. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. My prediction is some insignificant amount of community service and probation.

Both because of the social expectation and because of the high cost of leaving said unhappy marriage.

Exactly. You don't just start doing the non-consent play. You sit down before anything even started happening and you work out that for this time "no" has nothing to do with lack of consent. "No"has been replaced in that role by "pumpernickels" or some other word that you two agree on. Then once you've mutually outlined the boundaries that everyone is comfortable with, you can start.

It's not necessarily just rough sex. There are times when a woman says "just fuck me" - this leads to rough sex and is fine. Then there are the girls who won't say a thing about it and expect you to basically entertain their rape fantasy without ever mentioning it to you. They then complain that they aren't getting what they need despite never saying a word.

You forget, this is a feminist. Taboo means you stfu and she gets to make whatever comments she wants.

We should really reframe cases like these. It's always "a crime he didn't commit", like there was a bank robbery and they got the wrong guy. The accuser still gets to play the victim because the narrative acknowledges that there was a crime committed. He was convicted and imprisoned for a crime which never happened. He was exonerated because he didn't rape her but also because no rape occurred.

I misspoke. My own fault for trying to get that across on a mobile platform on a short time. The definition does not exclude male victims per se. What it excludes by defining rape as non-consensual penetration and not (as goes the common definition today) as non-consensual sex is female perpetration, especially of the brand that's been hidden in the corner as "made to penetrate". This leads back around to the perception that woman can do no wrong and men are only victimized by other men. By remo…

And if there's room for it, pointing out the injustice of the "made to penetrate" category as a way to minimize the rape numbers for men in that same publication.

Pardon the link to Time (and their wonderfully gynocentric title), but this is probably something worth including in the discussion of the pay gap take down. http://content.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,2015274,00.html

He pointed out that the old code of the streets, that thieves don't hurt women and children, is no longer honored. I don't recall anything in the article about children being attacked. Can we lose the tired "women and children" line? You're claiming equality with men? Great! Welcome to adulthood! Now stop trying to have it both ways by claiming to be equal while demanding the protections that children need.

Excellent point. There's a huge difference between equality under the law and equality of outcome.
