While I agree, I would argue the definition of a wife has drastically changed in the US at least over the last 40 years. It’s more along the lines of business partner, which is fine don’t get me wrong, that’s what I would be looking for in a wife. But a “wife” is no longer a blanket term across cultures as it once was. I really don’t even think it’s the competition level, it’s more of the excitement factor. Like if women’s basketball had the same exact skill level they have now but added dunks and sick crossovers, viewership would skyrocket. The reason men’s women’s tennis is comparable is because the moves are just as exciting in womens as they are in mens, even if the women can’t compete directly with the men. They know that there is some discrepancy when it comes to what women and men earn in many areas, and they also have the largest platform outside of musicians and celebrities so there is a sense of duty that they have to say something even if they are not educated enough to speak on it.
