My daughter came home from spending a week with her grandma (my ex's mom) and told me her grandma told her if a boy is mean to her it means he likes you. If I was the wife, I would have wanted him to show his true colors when I got pregnant so I could have the choice to co parent with a narcissistic or terminate, now she's stuck with him around forever. Having sex 7,8, or 9 months pregnant is unpleasant, I only did it to try to kick start labor.

My great aunt (who I'm named after) traveled across Puerto Rico in her 20s (not exactly sure of the timeframe, but early 1900s) alone to go to a concert. She packed a bag and a small handgun and went on her way, my dad told me that in her travels a cab driver tried to assault her and she pulled the gun on him and yelled at him until he pulled over and let her out. My ex husband would never write anything in cards, he said he didn't know how and instead found one that said what he felt. His feelings for me were so shallow that hallmark was able to sum it up for him. Even this isn't foolproof. I loved to travel with my NVX, we drove cross country in a hatchback full of stuff and a dog, it was an amazing trip. He helped me let go of my type A anxiety I get while traveling. We went on a lot of trips. But that led to it being a lot of time in vacation mode and I didn't find out about his total inability to deal with real life until 3 years in.

I cook when my boyfriend is over, but I would be cooking if he wasn't here. Most of the time he's ordering us food for delivery, however. On the weekends when I want to make something fancy or complicated (homemade gnocchi, yummy), it's usually a couple activity that we do together. We have been together a year. The worst is when you start doing that in the middle of an established relationship. My NVX withdrew hard after 3 years and I started trying soooo hard and he kept pulling back. I'm embarrassed about some of our conversations with me telling him I don't feel like a priority (because I wasn't, shocker) and him gaslighting me into thinking it's normal. My cousin left her second husband the moment she found out he was molesting her girls, kicked him out, called the cops, and he went to jail. Do you have any advice for someone trying to get out of an unhappy marriage re: money and work? One of my friends is in that situation and hasn't worked for 7 years. I had to beg my ex once to take our daughter for an extra day because I had the flu and couldn't function. He was so pissed. I actually needed a few extra days to recover, but he was only willing to spend one extra day with his daughter.
