Congratulations! I hope to be in the same position on September 1st. Officially separated since January but 12 month separation before we can file. Simply too toxic to stay any longer. Her: BPD STAHM who sends the kids to preschool. Doesn’t clean cook or anything. Refuses to return to the workforce. Me: works 60-70 hours per week to provide. Cleans, does the dishes gets the kids ready before school, etc. DB for years, separate bedrooms. She refuses to return to work, etc. claims she is a “single…

Check out the book “How to be a good divorced dad”. Some of it seems very high level but a lot of good nuggets to remind you to keep it simple and just be present for him when you are together. You can do it man.

Because breast cancer related charities receive like 75% of all corporate and individual financial donations while accounting for like 15% of all cancer related deaths. Think of all the Pink NFL players wear in October while male specific related cancers are completely ignored.

It fucking sucks. That’s how. I’m rounding the half way point here in VA. Get a therapist and an attorney and listen to their advice. I’ve been living in the basement of the same house just to protect my access to the kids and my property rights. My therapist guessed that the 12month rule creates more cases of domestic violence and depression than the legislature realizes. Couple that with the need to stay in the house and the law creates a toxic soup of BS for everyone to simmer in until you ca…

Thanks for the code reference for Va! I’m in a somewhat similar boat where my STBX is now using my daughter’s evaluating psych as her own personal therapist. We’re having the daughter evaluated for behavioral issues associated with the divorce and other stuff but now the STBX is seeing the same therapist for her own weekly appointments. And the commingle discussions about my daughter during her personal appointments. Talking to my lawyer this week to try and find a way to put a stop to this. She…

Why the fuck are you talking to her about your finances if the divorce was finalized over two years ago? Are you paying her alimony based on your OCONUS pay? If so, go to a Dr and get it in writing that you can no longer do that work and get a stateside job working at Home Depot or someplace and file an order to get the support adjusted to account for your new income based on your disability. Never telegraph your punches man. Talk with a lawyer, not your ex!

Talk to a lawyer. Not sure about CA, but in many states any alimony is based off of earnings potential, not actual earnings. If she is on a temporary leave of absence then it is highly likely that they will use her ordinary income for the calculations and not the temporary disability pay she is currently receiving. Seriously, talk with several lawyers and file now.

I needed to be reminded of this today. Thanks. Similar situation with a coworker at an “off duty” event several weeks ago. Drinks, laughing, hair flips, Arm touching, etc. Friendlier and more personal IMs and texts since then, and realized she was working her way in for something. Gotta remember who quickly the friendly banter and flirting can go south.

IANAL. But if possible, I’d wait a few months so the profit doesn’t show up as additional income. That said, ask a lawyer. The last thing you want is for your ex to find out and file for increased support payments based on your reported income.

There’s a weird sort of prisoners dilemma for men on OLD and even in real life. They don’t have that abundance mentality and fear that if they don’t move quickly, all of the resources (vaginas) will be taken before they get their chance. So they immediately swipe on everything coming across their screen thereby overinflating the inboxes and egos of every single woman on the site. They then get this perception that they are somehow in high demand and start acting accordingly. They end up having t…

Dude. Talk to a lawyer. You MUST go the legal route. Everything is fine and you can be amicable but you need a legal arrangement in place to insure your access and rights in regards to your child. Without legal custody arrangements she could literally move across the country without telling you and then you would need an emergency protective order (which will require a lawyer). Talk to a lawyer regardless of what she’s saying right now. Do you live in a state that recognizes common law marriage? What sort of child support can you expect? What about custody; visitation? They all talk about that “strong independent woman” shit until reality sinks in and they realize they are neither as strong nor as independent as society has led them to believe. “Everybody has a plan until…

The only marriage therapy that has been scientifically supported (not proven) to work is the Gottman method. A certified Gottman therapist is actually just as likely to tell you to quit wasting your time and go ahead and divorce now as they are to try and help you “fix” things. Women hate Gottman because it isn’t gender biased and focuses on statistically proven facts...if you do this then you have a 85% higher chance of divorce. They meet with the couple individually first and then only after t…

No offense but it is extremely difficult to sympathize with you. All of the “issues” you have pointed out with your wife sound absurd to an outsider. You say your wife was “controlling” by picking out your infant/toddlers clothes, keeping a clean house and preparing healthy meals for them while not asking your mother to do it for her...you even said that your mother “agreed that if your wife wasn’t in the picture” then she could make more decisions for them. The egg harvest and freezing is actually the same thing as the first step of the IVF process. The woman is given stimulation drugs throughout the cycle causing the ovaries to produce numerous eggs (as opposed to one or two which happen naturally). They are then removed via surgical procedure. At this point the eggs can either be frozen, or inseminated to see if they become viable embryos. Those embryos are then used (implanted) or frozen for future use. The freezing process while young just ensu…

“Plenty of times” aren’t exactly great odds! Fertility clinics are now actively marketing egg freezing to young professionals and women in medical and law schools because they know a frozen 25 year old is drastically more viable than a “fresh” 35 year old egg. They know that the longer women delay getting pregnant the higher the odds will be that they need significant (and expensive) medical intervention in order to give birth.

Because it isn’t a hard scientific fact and is based off the perception of the individual. There are rough guidelines based on the biology and environmental factors that affected the woman in question. There is absolutely a subjective aspect to the wall as well. Just like some men prefer redheads or BBWs, sometimes a man believes a woman hits the wall after she has kids, or when she hits 30 (general guideline), but there are dozens of other factors as well: did she smoke, use hard drugs, eating …

Actually, I understand that female fertility peaks in the 20’s and begins to decline at 30, exponentially from the mid-30’s on. It is vastly easier for a 20 year old to get pregnant than a 30 year old. A 30 year old has roughly a 20% of getting pregnant per cycle while a 40 year old has less than a 5% chance.

Curious about the comment on selecting a male attorney. Just perception or do you think there is some gender bias with a female representing you but unconsciously identifying with your STBXW and there not being a completely effective advocate for you and your interests?
