Here is a case where a Florida female teacher got 22 years for having sex with 17 year olds. Some defendants get extremely luck while others get fucked due to how the law is enforced so differently in every jurisdiction.

It's both at least where I live. My state has sentencing guidelines and if you think the court miscalculated them you can appeal on those grounds. Daily Star, New York Post, Daily Mail, The Sun, and The Mirror all call them sex romps, but none of those are as mainstream as Fox. If you can find examples I am willing to bet most of them just used Fox's article. So she only has to register as a predatory offender. A man would have to registered as a sexual offender. It's normal for age of consent laws to not apply to teachers. For example in my state of Michigan the age of consent is only 16 however if a teacher sleeps with their 16 year old student it's a crime that carries mandatory prison time. In general laws are often just weird when it comes to age and sex. There are plenty of felonies in Michigan that people rarely get prison time for. The one she was convicted of, false reporting of a felony is definitely one of them for better or worse.

Michigan allows felons to vote and she did commit a felony. Outside of expungement or a pardon she will not be able to own firearms. Michigan has a youthful offender act that can allow expungement if you don't fuck up your probation however I can't find any articles saying if she got it. Once you turn 21 (the age of the women in the story) it becomes much harder to get because it requires the prosecutor's consent.

That is just what OP is calling. Simon was found guilty of criminal sexual conduct in the 1st degree which is the most serious sex charge in Michigan. Michigan's age of consent is 16 (no state in America has a age of consent lower than 16) however a teacher sleeping with a 16 year student in Michigan is a crime that carries mandatory prison time.

Michigan doesn't have any earned or good time. Outside of a successful appeal, (all of Simon's have failed so far) pardon, or commutation she will be imprisoned until at least November 21st, 2022.
