Well thank you I did not know the exact procedure I appreciate the info. This is my own bias slipping in here then, but put her in jail let other criminals deal with it, as they typically do with anyone who harms children.
I am sorry I can't agree with reducing her sentence because of postpartum. She admitted she knew what she was doing, and that she had tried before. She deserves punishment to the fullest extent of the law, same as anyone who attempts murder.
Not a bad point, but this seems way beyond a simple depression. The article mentions how she did this after her mom was unable to take care of the child for a day, and that she was heard saying she wanted to throw the child against the wall. Seems to be much more she wasn't ready to be a mother and was looking for a way out, sadly this is what she came up with. The child should have been put up for adoption, but the father could also have played a part in keeping the child.
Being watched for mental health issues?! This girl should be going straight to prison, she is twisted and a danger to those around her. She admitted to trying to kill a newborn for Christ's sakes!
