This really isn't revealing clothing. Heck, the average office blouse in my closet has a similar cut. I'm fairly flat-chested, so it's not a problem for me, though. (Only time it's an advantage. :3)

Can you explain the difference? There's a lot of overlap when I look at it as an observer. I know there's some differences as well - you guys certainly don't treat women like objects - but I've seen the idea that women want to 'live' off guys espoused here.

Man... nobody wins when something like this happens. This must be awful for both sides. :( EDIT: Just to clarify: imagine how you'd feel, hearing a child who is meant to be taken back to your home tell you, "I don't want to be near you any more." It'd be heartbreaking. Everyone loses in this kind of situation.

Yes. My dad is suffering so badly with me not willing to help him: I'm not trying to figure out a good way to support him that's also realistic. How silly of me. I should just call the cops, say that my mother slapped my father, and listen to them tell me that this isn't an emergency.

When did my mother abuse her me or my siblings, or make us think she did? Hell, when did I say she did? She didn't. I doubt she'd ever even contemplate it (aside from spanking.) EDIT: Oh, I realise: 'she's got issues with child abuse'. I meant that she has issues with her, and her siblings, being abused as a child - not that he abuses us.

Alright, let me make it clear: Police officers are incredibly overstaffed and usually have to prioritize. I am -not- going to waste a cop's time with something that we both dismiss as irritating, but mostly insignificant. There are other ways to show how she's acting without taking the time of people who do a vital job in society.

Oh, man, thank you so much. This is exactly the kind of thing I was after: the kind of practical, smart, simple thing you can do. Unfortunately, my mother's cut off all contact with her family, but we do have a few neutral family friends (including a sibling's friend and my boyfriend) who are frequently around, and I think they'll be happy to help! EDIT: I'm not sure about the camera idea, though. I don't think me pulling out a camera and filming a disagreement is going to make them particularly…

Like I said, I'm unfortunately not perfect. I try to be as fair to both genders as possible, but I usually admit that I don't get it right all the time. I'm gonna raise it to her, and point out that what she's doing is wrong: I'm not going to call the cops on her, though.

Yup. Because my mother's tiny, fragile, and my dad could - not that he ever would - break her in two with his bare hands. Gender has nothing to do with it. That's sticking up for someone who can't defend themselves from being seriously hurt. I'll admit, though, that if he did, say, hit her in the same way she hits him, with the same force and with her not really being hurt by it, I'd be pissed. Yes, that's a little bit biased of me. I'm not perfect, unfortunately.

I think you're missing the point I'm making. Let me switch it around: If I say: "Fuck yes, I just shot that man-raping dick," that would be sexist - saying "I shot him!" isn't. The point I'm making is that a game that relishes a female soldier being shot, because she's a woman - is wrong and sexist. Making a reference to the fact she is a woman, however, isn't.

Alright, now that's more what I'm after. What kind of (realistic) things can I do to record her behavior and why it might be problematic? Is it usually enough to say that I've seen her act out? Calling the police to make a complaint that my mother hit my father is not going to help anyone.

Sorry, that wasn't really clear: I meant killing where the -fact- they are female, and have been killed, is relished. Saying 'Boom, headshot!' isn't sexist regardless of whether you just shot a girl or a guy. It isn't sexist in video games, either.

Recording that is a great idea - it sickens me, but it feels like it's moving towards something that could come up. I don't even want to think about what could happen if it did, though. My parents never abused me. They're both decent people... my mother just has problems she's working through.

No, fuck that, that's stupid. If my mother hits him with a baseball bat, that's something I'll call the police over. If she gets upset and angry and slaps her hands on his chest, I'll just give him a pat on the back and some words of encouragement. God's sake, police have far better things to do then worry about that. Yes, it's domestic abuse, but realistically, it can (and should) be overlooked.

No. Come on, this is equality 101 - exactly what the MRA is fighting against. A video game where female soldiers can be killed is not sexist (assuming there's female player characters, as well - that it's equal in either regard.) But a video game where female soldiers are killed, and it's relished in game - say, "Hoo-ray, bitch!" would be. Admittedly, I simplified, but I think it's an important point.
