A little background. We've been married for 5 years together for 14. We are essentially high school sweethearts. I've never been in any other relationship prior to her and she hasn't been in another relationship either. The cheating was actually a full blown affair for about a year and a half, but prior to that I had fucked around a bit. She has admitted to 2 incidents of infidelity herself 1 before our marriage, which I chose to forgive and one while I was having my affair. She claims no penetr…

Take it off the wall and set it on a table. If she puts it back up. Leave.

Imagine for a moment that you are an older, wiser man. Imagine that you have a son, and he came to you telling you the exact same predicament. What advice would you give him? I have been in your exact same shoes. I went through with the marriage. The first two years were okay. But five years later and each day that passes I increasingly wonder about the path not taken. The only sure thing I can say is that following through with an enormous life choice that you are unsure of simply for the sake …

Seeking the acceptance of any group of people seems beta to me. First I would ask why I wanted to befriend this group of guys in the first place. What do they have to offer you? Never prostrate yourself before any group of people for their friendship. Better to stand alone with dignity than stand in a group without it.

So don't give her closure any tips on how to handle it if she presses for explanations? Should I just fixate on a phrase and keep repeating it? Like "it is what is" or "it just wasn't meant to be" when she asks for explanations?

She likely blocked you and then unblocked you. When you block someone on Instagram it unlikes every photo and removes some comments too. I have had to block a crazy girl and know first hand.

Okay so I have an update. I ended it with the 'other woman' it wasn't easy and still isn't (we work together several days a week). I'm pretty certain she has already began seeing someone else but now I can't even look at my wife. While I was having the affair it was hard to be around my wife but knowing that I was going to see the other woman again made it bearable. Can I even get back to a good place with my wife? Or are those days gone never to return?

I agree. I think being blindsided would leave her feeling duped and angry. That's why I would like to initiate some type of discussion prior to just handing her papers. We have been having problems on and off for years so I know it won't be a total surprise but I don't think she will be ready for papers.

I got married to my high school sweetheart and the marriage is just unfulfilling. Our sex is unsatisfying, and counseling did not help. She has an alcohol problem that, to her credit, she is addressing (sober for 11 months). But mostly I just don't see a future for us anymore. I don't want to have children, at least not with her, and she does. I want better sex, she is content with sex as is (Less than 10 minutes every 6 weeks or so).

I agree with you there. After reading the Irrational Male I comprehend the importance of living alone but have never done it. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for your perspective man. I really needed the reality orientation.

Thanks for the input. She is flexible about marriage, or at least she claims to be. When we have talked about it we agree to the notion of a prenup. Thanks for your input.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
