I knew you'd say that. I gave it to you because after you're terrible advice fail, I thought you needed someone to throw you a bone. ;-)

hahah No not always, but the quotes seemed to give off a pretty literal vibe. Its not like its unreasonable to assume that someone would say something just like that to a girl, its just unreasonable for me to assume that it'd work on an already freaked out girl. Maybe you should be MORE literal when giving advice. :-p

What you just said in this post reads infinitely better than what your initial advice was. This would actually be decent advice, not all that forcefully cutesy and playful language that was in the first one.

Not willing to admit this may be bad advice?

Actually 3 of my experiences were with VERY close friends, people I knew for decades. I promise you that when a girl is freaked out by you coming on too strong, she doesn't want to be forced into a friend event any more so than forced into a dating event. She needs some space to get out of her own head. A guy backing off and waiting for me has worked several times actually. I know you're gonna assume I'm just saying all this to prove you wrong at this point, but its the God's honest truth.

I agree, but please don't ask us random questions like this immediately after introducing yourself. Its not quirky and spontaneous, its awkward.

This would not work on me. As someone who is easily and often freaked by guys coming on too strong, the only solution is to back off and let her come to you.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
