On that occasion he did suggest before we met his buddy that I might find him attractive because the guy had a good job. I think my date was insecure, about a lot of things.

At least she asked in advance and you had some warning. I’ve been in a few dates where he tells me after we get going that “oh my friend so-and-so is meeting us there…” and then it was me (F) with 3 bitter divorced single dads complaining about their ex-wives and telling me “don’t have kids!” What a fun time that was. /s

My first thought was, she had multiple dates line up (or at least more than one) and she was posting about someone else’s response. Or someone else’s response from a different encounter. If her post seemed that over reactive to your response, could it be unrelated?

That’s one of the main reasons I don’t give out my WhatsApp number in OLD. I don’t want a bunch of gifs, memes, forwarded videos, etc from someone I don’t know but also because that stuff tends to replace a conversation, which is why I would move to WA and away from the dating app to begin with.

Maybe her ask for help was a veiled excuse for contacting you to see if you would respond? In other words, maybe it’s not about the help but rather a temperature gauge to see if you’re really ghosting her. Sounds like she’s sort of picked up on your hints anyway but might be nice to just tell her outright so you both can move on.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
