Valid point. Especially with kids in the mix.

You may want to see a therapist. I could understand having a problem with the child that’s not yours. But the ones that are biologically yours need a father in their life. Why would you allow your ex-wife to have her lover fill that role. Once you alienate the children from you, it is nearly impossible to have a strong relationship with them.

Get the process moving and work to minimize your exposure from the divorce. Next time, if there is one, take your time before you rush the marriage.

She has had this planned out for a while. Get a lawyer and communicate through them for divorce stuff. Record everything and remain calm at all times. Do not drink, I knew somebody that had an ex call cops and claim drunk and belligerent. She is maneuvering for something.

It is always no contest until she does not get what she wants. Then it becomes a whole different thing.

Start recording your conversations with her. You do not want her to make a false police report against you. Better to be safe than sorry. She may be looking for an angle to get you out of house and screw with custody.

I understand the desire to try and be nice and work with your soon to be ex-wife. But that does not mean you need to be a doormat for her. There’s a difference between being nice and being used. No offense, I get the feeling from your posts and your comments that your wife is very selfish and is good at manipulating you to get what she wants. Remember in a divorce. She is not your friend. She is your enemy. The financial framework that you set up during the negotiations is something you have to …

Just get the divorce done. Stop wasting time and putting yourself through unnecessary aggravation. If she is or was cheating, it will not change the trajectory of your marriage or divorce unless you live in an at-fault state. If not, unfortunately an affair does not matter in the divorce. So now you know she cannot be trusted and she lies to you. These are not things you did not know before. Just keep moving forward and let her become a distant memory.

Then I found out that she was having an emotional affair and was being pressured by the AP to turn it into a physical relationship. I then called the AP‘s wife while my wife was sitting in front of me and sent all the screenshots that implicated him. She assumed she could take a quick little break in the marriage. Enjoy herself for a couple weeks and then come back. That was the story that the AP told her and she believed.

Once she said them to me, I knew the relationship was done for. I smiled, I nodded and I talked about the children during the separation. Meanwhile, I had my lawyer working on the divorce papers. When we met to discuss the boundaries, she didn’t want any. So I told her that wasn’t good for me, she said what are you gonna do about it. So I handed her divorce papers.

That’s fine. Counseling is not for everybody. When you’ve made the decision like you have already. Now the goal is to get the Lawyer going with the papers. There’s sometimes when your spouse’s actions are so egregious that it’s not worth trying to save something that’s already dead. I wouldn’t confront her until after you speak to the lawyer. Let the Lawyer do all the planning and follow their instructions to the letter. She is no longer your wife, but she is your adversary. Your goal now is to …

I understand why you are trying to save the marriage. Because you were concerned for your three young children. Unfortunately, she did not seem like she was very concerned for them when she decided to begin communicating with someone else and directing her affection to him.

Just when I thought I had read it all on Reddit. I am further amazed at people.

So accurate. I never understand why a person tries to force another person to stay with them. At what point do you not realize the relationship is over.

I would not be adverse to it, if it happened. But, I think you need to try and develop the relationship before you add a child to the mix. Children while awesome add another dimension to a relationship. If you are not in a solid relationship, the pressure of parenting can easily fracture it.

Never take anything for granted. Play it cautiously and by the way the Lawyer says. He could also be a plant by her.

It depends what you want from her. If you do not want to be cordial and try and maintain a good coparenting relationship then your response was acceptable. If you intend to try and have a good coparenting relationship perhaps being friendlier may be warranted. I understand you are hurt by her cheating and the divorce. But she was reaching out to you to try and establish a decent working relationship. By cutting that off, are you not cutting off your nose to spite your face. Some people will say …

Just traveling for my job I found I missed many milestones for my children. I can only imagine freely choosing to be so far away would only cause even more missed opportunities. You need to decide what is important to you and then work your life around that. Me personally I fought like the devil for every % I received in court and would die on that hill.
