Agreed. I was just giving my own thoughts and experiences, as I've heard those jokes primarily from people who've lived it. Depends, dark humor is a good coping mechanism. I've known ex-prisoners as well as prison guards. The things both sides have seen are cruel and inhuman, so I don't fault them for joking about it.
