In theory, things like the Safe Haven laws are gender neutral and a person of any gender could legally abandon a child, no questions asked. In practice, protection for effective accesses to these methods is extremely gender unequal. For instance, violating a person's reproductive rights by keeping the birth of a child secret until the time limit to use Safe Haven has expired. Or, from the other direction, using Safe Haven in secret so the other parent cannot claim custody and force you to suppor…

The recurring impression I've taken away when I've read through those sorts of discussions is that the participants are mostly people who suffered abuse as a child and have not been able to overcome their survival and coping mechanisms. Like many victims of abuse, they have trouble forming relationships with people who cannot understand their experiences... Which unfortunately often means they become involved with a new predator/abuser, thus confirming their theories about how women, relationshi…

Glosses over "toxic masculinity" that harms the individual while being helpful to others/society. E.g., the boy in Parkland who was shot while holding the door open so others could escape. Teaching us that men are disposable, worth less, and that their only path to value as a human is by being useful to others is what produces one boy's heroism just as it produces the other boy's villainy. You can't figure out a whole solution while ignoring half the problem.

What is giving others this impression? It's the "Everything I hate is everything else I hate." mindset at work.

Given that "The Future is Female" was revived during the Clinton campaign and has been appearing elsewhere (e.g., The Last Jedi crew wearing "The Force is Female" shirts) Gearhart's advocacy for genocide is arguably the thing for which is most well known.

One would never consider forcibly opening the vagina of a baby girl (and washing it out with soap and water) to keep it clean, right? Pelvic floor muscles I didn't know I had involuntary cringed at this line.

I'm thinking about who would set this flag on their account. My first thought was people who get a lot of unwanted first messages, but the fact that both accounts have to swipe right before it's possible to message means that completely unwanted messages are controlled (unless you both just swipe right on everyone, in which case I have no sympathy) and if someone's going to veer off unexpectedly into pervsville whether they do it on the first message or the second one isn't going to make much di…

Women can choose whether they want this feature on or off, and it seems to be only for heterosexual women. Why bother limiting this to heterosexual women rather than making it a setting available to all users?

Even if you're not lonely and bitter or dysfunctional as a result of these experiences, just talking openly about abuse you've suffered will usually get some asshole crawling out from under their rock to ma'amsplain how women physically/sexually abusing their children/partners is totes okay because The Patriarchy™ hurts men, too.

It's actually kind of fun having this conversation with a girl who didn't get the "No means No" memo (or thought she was special and it didn't apply to her).

Do not date feminists. If you are on a date with a woman, simply ask her whether she identifies as one. I had a girl ask me this the first time we went out in 2012. I told her I found the label to have too many contradictory meanings to know what someone else might think I was claiming to support, so, no, not a feminist. Cue an initially acrimonious discussion of various gender issues that she eventually chills out about because it turns out we're both reasonable people and we apparently agreed …

You don't need to justify why you stopped. "No." is a complete sentence.

Just because your ex cannot effectively abuse you directly does not mean you've "shut it down". Until she seeks and receives help with her problem she will always be an abuser. When I had the epiphany that I didn't have to care about my ex's bullshit any more and began to simply hang up on her, close the door, walk away, etc. she figured out the only thing she controlled that I still cared about (i.e., the kids) and began to fuck with that to get at me indirectly. It sucks that the systemic gend…

people over here will think of me as a chick ect I doubt most people here would care enough to keep track of whether you're male/female/man/woman/cis/trans, so (unless you're prefacing every comment with a declaration of these things) you'll be thought of as an amorphous blob of personality and how you're treated will depend on your ideas and arguments. As with most thing sociological, variation within groups is often larger than variation between groups and the presence or absence of a particul…

Sure you weren't banned for sprinkling "psychotic cunt", "that bitch", "utter piece of garbage", etc. throughout your comments in a suspiciously Fellow Kids fashion?

Currently we have joint legal custody, and shared residency. We split time 50/50 and there is currently no child support being paid. This has been the case since the divorce. What is the unresolved conflict being hashed out a mediation? What are some examples of the email-only communication causing problems?
