Ugly women have low self esteem, but I think people tend to gloss over that because it seems like a natural thing to have self esteem issues when you're unattractive. When pretty people have low self esteem the brain perceives a contradiction and takes notice. This can lead to the inflated impression of pretty women being more prone to low self esteem.

Lol, that sounds like an awful lot of work when it's obvious they could have just as easily sat down the artists with a picture of Tia Carrere in front of them. Interesting though.

Wow, until now I never realized Pocahontas was actually Tia Carrere. I remember seeing her in films in the early 90's and thinking she was absolutely gorgeous, and I'm wondering if the artists may have been inspired a bit by her look. I know Ariel's look was inspired by Alyssa Milano, but honestly, beyond the generic little girl look, that resemblance has always eluded me.

I've been there. My vetting was crap and I don't feel like revisiting that chapter of my life on here, but I wanted to add one thing to all the good advice and thoughts you've already gotten: please get tested. Habitual liars will often cop to less severe lies to hide more serious ones, and you need to take care of your health.

Yes, that is dating. You use it to get your rocks off. Some people use it just to get out of the house, while others use it to sift through the chaff or have fun with multiple people until they wind up liking someone enough that they decide to exclusively get their rocks off with them. Younger generations can call it whatever they want, but regardless of how you spend your time on dates, you are dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/17 01:16 PM

That is what is known as dating, and used to be common before exclusivity from one dating partner became more popular after the advent of such things as AIDS.

Get fat, absolutely number one for me, followed closely by have bulging muscles. Also, men who obviously don't know what physical labor is make me uneasy. I legitimately feel queasy if I shake a guy's hand and it doesn't have calluses and other signs of being a working man's hand. Men who wear designer crap or any sort of cologne turn me completely off. Oh, and flowers and poetry are gross, , as is a tendency to talk about feelings all the time. Even when I was an emotional high schooler that st…

I'll second the cap on ages. I've always thought that should just be common sense. I've never thought of anything like a death of child tax before, but I really like the idea. I don't think too many people ever stop to think about how severely limited men are when it comes to reproductive choices, and women seem to take their own buffet of choices for granted. Besides the obvious unfairness, it screws with women's views on how they should be conducting themselves sexually and who they partner up…

My opinion on the subject doesn't sit well with anyone on either side of the debate, I'm afraid. I write this without any intention of riling up emotions, but I so seldom get a chance to be honest on this subject. I believe that purposely bringing a child into a single mother situation is a form of abuse that is ultimately detrimental to the child and to society. I also believe the way the laws are set up, with the woman having complete control over reproduction and the man having absolutely non…

I'd call this a bromcom list, for the most part. Romcoms aimed towards men as well as women, or romcoms aimed primarily at men, were always called bromcoms when I was growing up. I'm surprised it doesn't seem to be a more widely used term.

Thanks for the response. I've thought about it and I still disagree. It does strike me as a red flag that people would choose partners with whom they couldn't be friends should the relationship end. I don't know that I've ever thought of them from the slut angle that Demon does, but I do feel it demonstrates a lack of sound judgment in the vetting process. My thoughts go straight to, "What's so wrong with you that you've chosen people too crappy to even be friends with?" But I can see where you'…

Is this a red pill idea/tenet? Sorry if the answer should be obvious, but it's a foreign enough concept that it caught my attention. So much so that I asked Demon his thoughts, and he said it was a bigger red flag if I wasn't friends with any of my exes. He said to have no exes as friends would indicate to him one of two things: either I was willing to have sex with anyone regardless of compatibility (slut!), or that I'm a "mean break-up," or in other words, a vindictive bitch. He did say it cou…

The husband was even there? Holy moses, I've seen women indulge in making fun of their partners, but it takes the cake to have a woman do it in her husband's presence. I'm happy for you that you got away from that.

Great examples. I'll add to the first two examples that there doesn't even need to be a talk with the friend in order for friends to influence your behavior with your partner. When it comes to influence, people tend to think of the obvious interactions, such as friends telling them they could do better, or that the guy doesn't treat them well enough, and so on. But positive interactions can have a negative effect that you need to be aware of, and if you're prone to that sort of influence, find w…

There's some overlap, I think, in that your social circle can influence how you relate to your man. Even women who aren't susceptible to that sort of thing can find themselves influenced in small ways, and it might be worth discussing how to recognize when that's happening and how to guard against it.

I read that in a bit of a different light from you. I read it from a standpoint of what traits I'd be unwilling to alter for anybody. To me, straightening curly hair and changing breast size is no small thing, so if a man wanted those things in a partner, yes, I'd expect him to have looked elsewhere for those features without expecting the woman to change if she doesn't want to. However, if, for instance, a curly haired woman straightens her hair before getting with a partner, there is no reason…

Well, that's good, and I envy you that! I enjoy cooking in the evenings, but even the simplest recipes turn into sludge for me in the mornings. Luckily for me I'm with a man who's an unapologetic night owl and late sleeper.

About the breakfasts . . . I personally found transitioning from night owl to morning person leaves me feeling more energetic and happy (I think it has something to do with more sun exposure. My mood is very tied in with the sun), but no matter how up and energetic I am in the mornings, I simply can't cook. My brain is not hard wired to cook in the mornings, regardless of how awake I am. Abusive? Maybe, maybe not. That's how you lay the groundwork for future abuse, at least. That doesn't matter, though. If he's feeling the need to do that with a good woman he's a level of insecure that is not attractive. If he's feeling the need to do that because his woman has lead him to think she needs it then he sucks at picking women, and that is a level of stupid that is not attractive. In either case, it's a man demonstrating he's too low value to waste time on. Keep in mind this is in re…

Boredom: Is there something you like to do, like cooking, crafting, or gardening? You could start a meetup group and do these things socially. I know of women who did just that to fight boredom. They take turns going over to each other's houses to help in each other's gardens, to swap and teach each other family recipes, that sort of thing. If you think about it, this is what women used to do . . . they'd bring knitting, piece work, peas to shell, etc. over to each other's places and turn chores…

When Demon and I interact, emotionally healthy people see a couple who are happy together and willing to make each other's lives easier in what little ways they can. The emotionally unhealthy tend to project whatever issues they have in their own relationships onto ours. I find people who do this will do it regardless, so if you're dealing with anyone like that the best you can do is continue to treat your man with love and respect. Altering your behavior to keep the peace is not only unfair to …

I'm not sure what counts as girly anime. I saw Spice and Wolf mentioned here and I don't know that I would have ever thought of it as girly. Is it because of the relative lack of action? One that I particularly enjoyed is a film, not a series. It's called Wolf Children, and is full of love, sacrifice, hard work, and acceptance for the sake of family. I watched it with a happy, warm feeling throughout. I also enjoyed Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Tutu, and Mahoromatic. Generally speaking I'm …

I could write a full blown novel on all the big, little, and in-between things that make me happy and proud to be with Demon, but I wanted to try to focus on one aspect of him in particular. He is honest. Because of my background, dishonesty triggers me to a major degree. I have trouble with white lies, even, because I know how major liars will use minor lies for misdirection purposes. Lol. Love that you managed to take a less than stellar situation and spin it with a positive light. This makes me exceedingly grateful that I just don't give a poop when it comes to anything beyond the utilitarian, and that Demon is stereotypical in his lack of interest. This will sound childish, but . . . Make believe! As a little girl I made onerous tasks more palatable by escaping into pretend. Sometimes I'd be forced to clean the Death Star's restrooms by Darth Vader, who would later realize by how well I cleaned that I was his daughter, and he'd give up on Luke and choose me to rule the galaxy with him. Other times I'd pretend little animals were helping me with the tasks, fairy tale style. I can't remember half of the worlds I'd escape into. I wish child m…

I love this post! Very sweet and no-nonsense all at once. Before Demon, I'd always heard one of two things in regards to sex within relationships: "no" always trumps all, no matter what. Or "no" only applies if the man wants out of sex, because of physical limitations. One of the first things Demon laid out for me when we started seeing each other was a "never say no" policy, and that it works in both directions . . . meaning both of us are responsible for fulfilling the needs of the other. A friend showed me this sometime last year because she knows Demon and I love hiking and camping, and my friend and I share the same views on what it means to be in a relationship, including the willingness to say yes for our men. I loved the message in this, and thought others here might appreciate it as much as I did. Edited to add the reason I thought to post this is because of how as an RPW, you should always try to say yes to sex with your man if you are able. This applies to so much more t…

I thought player was a term for a guy who "bangs" a lot of "broads." Is that not derogatory? It's derogatory for most of the people in my circle, at any rate. When a man is described as a "player" he's immediately put into the "nope!" pile unless he has some pretty stellar attributes that would compensate for him being a man-whore.

Interesting. I'd like to know if there's any significant difference in how successful those relationships wind up based on how the couples met. Or maybe I don't want to know . . . we met in a bar, and I can't imagine that would compare well!
/r/RedPillWives29/04/16 12:06 AM

I totally get that, and thanks for replying. For some women there are certain shapes\sizes that aren't going to work out no matter what the couple can do to compensate, and that's the sticky area for me. You're absolutely right that everything else can pretty much be figured out beforehand.

Is it just a difference of understanding in what exclusivity means, then? I was reading into it that women were waiting until the man could be said to be an official boyfriend before having sex. What you're saying sounds more like a woman is is checking to see if the man is having sex with others, but not necessarily asking for girlfriend status before having sex. That makes much more sense to me and sounds more like the approach I took. Thanks!

From reading this and some comments, I have a question that I'm a bit embarrassed to ask, but here goes. I'm not sure how to phrase this question . . . the whole not having sex before exclusivity . . . um, how does that work? Do you get exclusivity, have sex, and decide whether or not to break up after finding out whether you're a match sexually? Or is it something you decide to live with regardless of how well or poorly you fit together once you are exclusive? When I was dating and had found a …

Don't know how helpful this would be to others, but it helped me reframe how I think. When he does anything helpful, and I mean anything, . . . even if you think of it as something so basic it's not worth noticing . . . say "thank you." Be specific about what you're thanking him for. Kiss him, too. Use a pet name as you say it, things that he finds cute or otherwise likes. You misread. In my original statement I said yes, both instances of lying were equally wrong. This was added to point out that I thought the consequences of one was worse than another, but my opinion doesn't matter . . . the lie is the point that must be dealt with. I'll add that Phantom later clarified she meant a child in the test scenario. I was picturing a college kid, which is obviously different. People who do not have agency cannot be compared with those who do.
/r/RedPillWives18/04/16 06:21 AM

A child anything is not the same as an adult anything. But you're right, those scenarios had nothing to do with the topic and I shouldn't have commented on it at all. Sorry. :\
/r/RedPillWives18/04/16 05:50 AM
1

No, my conclusion of which was worse does not affect the fact that the lying was wrong. A man lying to get sex does not make him worse than a woman lying to get a tire change, regardless of my personal belief as to who comes out of those scenarios having experienced the greater harm.
/r/RedPillWives18/04/16 05:39 AM

Medical diagnosis has nothing to do with this and is off point. As for my morality, I've just given you an example of how it isn't absolute. No doubt most agree with you that a woman should be able to lie to the police under those circumstances, but in light of how much harm comes of letting the gang members off without an identification, there's just nothing that strikes me as noble about being so compassionate you let the woman's self interest trump the safety of everyone else. Motivations for…

The woman's scenario is worse, in my opinion, because she's contributing to the freedom of those gang members to continue to harm others, whereas the kid is being a dick, but that paper isn't going to walk around robbing other people's houses. So yes, I get the concept of shades of grey and all that jazz, and because of that grey area, I reached a vastly different conclusion from you as to the severity of the consequences of those lies. Which is why I feel the quibbling over whose lie is worse i…

People lying to get what they want is comparable to people lying to get what they want. The quibbling over details and whether or not one lie is worse than another is merely the tactic of liars to rationalize their actions. You have a higher tolerance for manipulative liars in your value system, which is fine. I won't put up with that nonsense and feel no need to twist myself into knots trying to understand why so many people seem to think it's okay to lie so long as the liar is able to lie abou…

Beautiful thoughts. Empowering thoughts, too. It's so easy to be a victim that people forget how much control they do have. It can be difficult, accepting that the people you love are fallible but that they're not the ones that need to change. I'm still struggling with it. Lol, verbatim isn't asking much, is it? I was a teenager, so beyond being told to make men think you'll give them sex to get things, my family wasn't screwed up enough to actually do this stuff in front of the kids. Um. Well, this is weird to me. I was raised with these women, and I've never thought of it as sucking at negotiating so much as lying to get what you want. They also use covert manipulation to get what they want, but that's usually reserved for family and friends, people who are going to be in your life for a long time. When you just need furniture moved or whatever, it's quickest to lie to people who may or may not still be in your life a week from now. It's less applicable at home than on vaca…

My disagreement here may simply be an issue of differing values, because to me, lying is the epitome of all that is horrible and I have a much more visceral reaction to the lie having occurred at all than to any consequences that may come of the lie. I'd just like to say, having learned the hard way, that one can be blinded by similarities.
