If everyone does it then the effect is same. Or, it's even worse because when the tall guy uses insoles he would be expressing himself and if short guy uses it he would be insecure or something.

If we have to compare them to serial killers to make shy guys seem better then that's still very unflattering isn't it

Hm being constantly asked to self regulate while positing the opposite sex incapable of doing bad breeds contempt. Also ableist, ethnic and lookist stereotyping and other stuff like that adds to it.

I think the main hypocrisy is not about men vs women but different men. Not everyone is shamed same, it differs by class/social status/prior relationship status. Like inexperienced men considering it, rich dudes doing hedonistic shit with it, a depressed sex addict celebrity, a boomer visiting south east asia etc and I feel like the first one is the one with the least favorable connotations nowadays because it's related to the cursed incel/nice guy character.

Power dynamics is an overall unfruitful framing in debates like this. Abortion should be allowed or not regardless of men having anything to gain by defending it

I think it's some type of lizard brain ick that people try to rationalize by saying thing like they don't have skills to navigate the relationships or I can't teach him about sex like saying fat women are undesireable because it shows a lack of self-restraint or short men are unattractive because they can't be protectors. You could be experienced in an abusive relationship, a relationship with no physical intimacy, in a long-distance one, or in a explicitly transactional one and it will pass the…

Sometimes things that dont affect us directly or even might give us opportunities might be uncomfortable in downstream. So think about the golddigger/passport bro/age gap discourse. These are inequal arrangements where most people inside these dynamics accept the trade offs and a lot of people would dabble with the softer variations of them if it comes to that but some people outside the dynamic are looking at how it affects the dating market and make scenes trying to "fix" the imbalances like l…

Too many men believe that women are wonderful. Not only progressives, but misogynistic types too. They think women are just brainwashed by the evil feminist establishment and stuff instead of them being rational people acting according to material incentives and posthoc'ing their moral philosophy/ideology around their lived realities just like men. Oh also the culture war around character designs and castings in media is cringe and waste of time and energy for all involved. Just don't watch/buy …

I didn't know what a go bag is and looking into it isn't this something you should already have ready in case of natural disasters and stuff? I wouldn't be annoyed by a woman having a go bag because I know I won't be doing something that will make her leave so I think the analogy is a little wrong. I mean it's a little humiliating but she has the right to be paranoid so if that makes her feel better so why not. Also I don't think the scales match because of the retroactive nature of paternity fr…

I think people are quick to just call men who fail in some specific type of social engagement or are quirky in some way autistic and men self diagnose it a lot too. Just like some people are short some people will be bad at conversations. That doesn't mean they are "midgets" necessarily

I think variations of the same post can be written for blue pill or for women. In the end the assumption that people don't know what is good for them and they fumble around relationships because of that is a really patronizing starting point and inaccurate too. People just navigate between different "tools" with different trade offs for their different needs and desires and if it doesn't work that's because there is some already existing conflict in that relationship in terms of interests and ex…

Only half serious. But basically, if you feel suffering and feel let down by your environment one of the ways you reclaim yourself is to feel spite about your situation. You just think the alternative. You start imagining that the world would be better off without you. And what naturally follows is, you should keep going as you did until now, and make everyone else worse off by just creeping along instead. Sounds like a toxic mindset but I wouldn't be surprised if it saved a lot of lives in some…

I think you're confusing it with a betabuxx situation or situations where men complain about women complaining about long term compatibility issues with an otherwise attractive man. They don't say marry with those you aren't attracted to, they say use looks as a filter less initially so maybe I can show you who I am and we can connect at a deeper level or something

Yeah it makes sense that personality is more important than looks except the cases where looks are more important than personality. Nah just kidding I agree. But that "personality" does not mean morals or prosociality, it means having a personality that is either sexy or useful Oh also I'm not sure if "there is no male loneliness epidemic" is a blue pill take. It's like a horseshoe where most blue and red pillers would agree that it exist while blue pillers call it patriarchal socialization prob…

This shit is depressing. It's like men are only allowed to complain about problems as much as the solution to their problem is empowering women
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/26 11:29 AM

Personality might be more important for those who are looking a certain way. Categorically calling personality way more important than looks sounds wild to me since having down syndrome or being a quadruple amputee is still part of looks

I mean, what you're saying makes sense from a hedonistic logic. Minimize pain, maximize pleasure etc. It's good to have friends because being lonely feels bad, it's good to have a brisk walk daily to keep yourself healthy so you don't get back pain in your later years, and it's good to be disciplined enough to skip soda to avoid future toothache and dentist anxiety. This is fair. However, I don't think it's self-evident that decentering women and self improvement are better by themselves. It's s…

What is the point of self improvement? To attain something, isn't it? Ultimately that's a woman for most men. Or stuff to substitute like games, porn or even sex workers. If it weren't for their libido most men would live like ascetic monks, desire is suffering after all. Learning to be satisfied with a simple life would much easier than challenging yourself constantly. Self improvement for the sake of self improvement or being an independent person for the sake of being an independent person se…

Human sexuality is already weird. People can find one thing about a guy dressing like a woman that's sexy and extrapolate a full fantasy from there. In addition to that the people's tastes get weirder when it's being absorbed with a flat screen so it can get compartmentalized easily. Same logic for drawn or written porn. Don't think too much about it it doesn't mean people are gay or something.

Even then how much a person will be able to elevate his status in such a competitive environment via novel methods? Also I believe a lot of people have a disposition to avoid "cheating" even if not cheating is to their detriment. Pride, prosocial behavior, or possibly a hereustic of "Someone who selects me when I'm at my best wouldn't be worth the effort"

Nah most men will give up and cope with escapism instead. We can observe this in countries that are one step ahead of West in terms of gender incompability trends, e.g Japan, South Korea, China. There might be a minority of brutal biohacker looksmaxxers but that won't change the trend

Because a lot of them believe that women are actually wonderful but act not-so-wonderfully because they're co-opted by evil feminists or liberals or something. So maybe if we try hard to show the right way, they would start acting like this! Or something like that. Another answer would be they believe that people are malleable with social conditioning. A lot of people believe this, actually, and once you start with this axiom you skip looking into material reality in a neutral way and you're jus…

I mean isn't that what juice is not worth the squeeze means? A lot of people explicitly or subconsciously prefer being alone to being in a transactional or situational relationship with the hopes it becomes genuine one day and stays that way because it's difficult to find energy to sustain it or because it makes them feel like a loser.

Not getting any IOI's, high risk aversion, inexperience, living in a culture where relationships are deemed transactional, probably some genetic basis (basically my father is an incel and mom is a femcel and they had sex once before divorcing to conceive me)

If we assume the 80-20 rule or some type of attraction pyramid thing is accurate I don't think the provider/settling model will be sustainable either way. Too much distraction around us and not enough information friction between genders online so they can't keep the "dirty secrets" from one another. Add that we're comfortable enough to have pride. The result is it's a matter of time until a lot of people discover/develop their own coping mechanics instead of finding a partner, and at that point…

A society with economic equality and strong social support systems would be one where you could vet partners more in accordance with your attraction than their efonomic utility, so maybe it would be better for all involved: those who are coupled would be choosing each other purely by attraction and those who are not chosen wouldn't get lied to, assuming the last leftover crowd has some kind of cope. But it doesn't follow that if we solve inequality, we solve romantic loneliness.
