She's just gaslighting you into taking all the blame. Yes, you were dumb for dating when you're still married and living together and even worse for telling her about it. But she's also to blame for dating others and telling you about it. If you're going to separate and get divorced then you should both do that before hopping into the next train wreck. Don't believe her for a second that she wasn't dating anyone. I guarantee she's still seeing other people. It's not that she's ready to come back…

You’re missing a big part of my comment. And it’s more sad and telling that you don’t really consider time together with your wife and dating her and still being a couple part of your life responsibilities. I saw a comment you made right after I posted my comment that your wife doesn’t take up any time commitment. It wasn’t even part of your calculus to spend time with the woman you married. Not being judgmental. It just stood out to me. Nothing in this world stays the same without some sort of …

It's the answer above. She expected things to change with your video games. Mixed with another factor. You may not find it logical that she expected you to change your gaming habit. But I would argue that she should expect some things to change within reason. If you have a child and the workload increases on both of you in order to raise your child, then you can't continue on doing the same routine that you've always done. I don't think she has a problem with video games per se. She has a proble…

The divorce rate in the US has been around 50% for the last 50 years or so, and that's not even counting the unhappily married couples that are never getting divorced. The late 90s/early 2000s weren't a better time. They were the same as now. You never know the ins and outs of someone else's relationship if you're not with them behind closed doors.

Because most people don't learn from their mistakes. They just repeat their same mistakes from relationship to relationship. And add to it that most people are in new relationships before the ink is even dry on the divorce papers, and it's no wonder why things are worse the second or third time around.

I disagree with this part of your premise. Not everyone cheats because there's something missing with their spouse. I agree that that's how most people work. But there are people who cheat simply because they see an opportunity to cheat and believe that they can get away with it. It's the same type of person who is a pathological liar. Some people lie simply because they're broken or messed up. Some people cheat simply because they're broken or messed up, and they justify it by thinking that eve…

You don't have to be perfect at all. No one is. That's not why women are leaving. Trust me.

It wasn't a some secret that you two had issues. You've admitted it on your posts. And not all communication is a sit-down chat. She was communicating clearly that you had issues before this. You just didn't think the issues were that bad. You thought they were fixable. And at some point during the relationship, they probably were. But you went 20 years without fixing the issues. That's how resentment builds. The time to fix them was probably a decade or more ago. Now it's just too little too la…

I would say a big part of what you're not understanding when it comes to romantic love is that romantic love is conditional. It's not the same as the love you have as a parent for a child. In romantic love, it requires maintenance to keep the other person's romantic interest in you high and vice versa. Sounds like her romantic interest level in you dropped to the point of no return. And it didn't drop overnight. It dropped slowly over years. And only you can drop her interest level in you. So it…

It's definitely not that women are just better or more used to the admin stuff. I think the easy answer that you're overlooking is that women tend to be more unhappy in long-term relationships. Men are rarely socialized about what it takes to maintain a happy relationship. Women on the other hand are socialized about relationships and taking care of a home from childhood. Almost from right out of the crib you see baby girls taking care of baby dolls and role-playing marriage as toddlers. All whi…
