Has she always been like this ? What was your relationship like before you started having children ? How close in age are your children ? (i am asking, not for making excuses for her, but because having children can sometimes result in psychiatric issues whether it is for fathers or mothers - and if not adressed it could lead to the same kind of patterns of resentment, delusions and abuse as you seem to be describing)

Saying this when we are at least two women here calling the abuse out is interesting but I catch your drift don't worry. Honeslty sometimes it also feels the same for us (with the gender reversed)

As a woman : no matter the gender there will be abusive people and amazing people. Unfortunately sometimes it may seems like the amazing people are outnumbered by the abusive ones but that's only because the behavior of the latter tends to be the talk of the town so to speak. You do not deserve to be treated the way you describe. You'd be justified in thinking about speaking your heart out and make your partner understand how you feel (if you felt like it was safe to do so) but you'd also be jus…

Thing is if people transition "because they were told they would be better off", there are great chances they weren't transcender to begin with. Not even mentioning that gender affirming surgery (surgically transitioning) has a regret rate of about 1 or 2% compared to other procedures (even breast reconstruction in cisgendered women after accidents or illnesses).

Yeah but if you read through OP replies that's not good either because "they bought it, they didn't create it" and then "X actor isn't straight enough" or "y actor played a gay character once ergo that's not good role model in an unrelated Disney movie" or "those characters are animals, what boys will relate to those ?". It seems like the goalpost keep on shifting...

You might be confusing visibility with power. Yes, elementary schools have a lot of female teachers (depending on where you live). Yes, some news channels have a lot of female presenters. Yes, Disney Animation has had more female protagonists than male protagonists in recent years. But I don't think boys automatically conclude that girls are more important just because they have female teachers or see female protagonists. Girls spent decades growing up with male presidents, male historical figur…

I mean everybody deserves to feel represented honestly but as a 99 baby girl, growing up I didn't feel represented (either physically or morally) in what Disney proposed as a woman's (mostly damsel in distress apart from Mulan which was a favorite of mine despite the cultural difference) image. In fact my favorite movies were Brother Bear, Ice Age, The indestructible etc, edit to add Monsters Inc, Wall-e, Tarzan and Treasure planet !. It's only when movies like Merida or Red Alert came around th…

I've seen more women shunned for having short hair than men shunned for having long hair 🤷🏻‍♀️ (i'm a woman who has had both very short "military like" and long hair and who has always crushed on men with long hair, currently in a long term relationship with one)

Hi there, i'm a woman, i hope it's okay with you that I'm here and commenting. You can be sure that i certainly wouldn't fault you in any way shape or form for what happened to you in the past. my point is that you're assuming fathers to value their daughters more because they apparently tend to name their companies after their daughters more than their sons - thus making companies "... & son" irrelevant (somehow) but why would you assume the public would clock it was their daughter's name ? Not sure where you're getting that they have an agenda since they share every stats for every category (women and girls, men and boys, youth per gender and per age, per location ...) and insist on the fact that men and boys are more likely to be found murdered than women (if anything we could argue that they have an agenda for men but that would be ridiculous given the fact that they do raise awareness towards both issues : women and girls are more likely to go missing, and men and boys going mi…

This site also shows the number of cases solved (whether the victim was found alive or not) and the number of unsolved cases, for each category. Putting aside the number of people who do not experience pain/discomfort during their periods, you're left with a quite high number of people who do. And in that case, their pain will be cyclical/chronic. Even if it's relatively not terrible, chronic pain is something you have to learn to live with and still keep on doing things (often you do end up pushing yourself far more than what's reasonable). That's not even mentioning the 1 in 10 (or higher + certain cis men) estimated to be suffering wi…

I've seen plenty of feminists (myself included) trying to push back against misandrists using these methods to try and make their points but rarely seen masculinists or just men calling out the same type of content (including weird trends like the "training in case she says no" one). But the difference is I'm not gonna try and frame either of these things as "X group hates Y group", i'm blaming the algorithms and the fact that inflammatory content gets more viral than nuanced one. (I think maybe…

That's true no matter what extremist group we're talking about. Especially on the internet as this type of content gather the most engagement. The people that are the most vocal (no matter what group they belong to) are the ones we're going to hear about the most which can make us feel like the people that agree with them are a majority.
/r/MensRights10/05/26 04:17 PM

While this is absolutely vile, it pertains to an extremist undergroup that thought clever to turn back what mostly men have said to women against men that become victims themselves. It serves no purpose to make it about all feminists because then you're not better off than the people who confuse MRA with incels or other most toxic parts of the manosphere.

I think what irks me is saying that a piece of clothing is sexual - for me (I'm not saying it's the real truth, and it's completely open for debate) it's important to say that bodies can be attractive/sexual whatever you wanna call it, but that clothing, is just clothing that can happen to enhance whatever physical traot someone finds attractive/sexy. It's not really a hidden bad characteristic if they tie it to something visible like skin colour though (or gender for that matter, hence why i don't like using this analogy for talking about anything more precise than just human - no skin colours or genders attached). I'm having trouble seeing how you're making that bridge since the analogy i used plays on the notion that something hidden (here someone's character - i should've specified that I was talking about humans and not thinking about a gender in particular, that's my bad) while the thing you're talking about is discrimination based on a visible trait (and stupid stereotype - we agree on this at least)
/r/MensRights13/02/26 11:58 PM

I don't either but i'm having trouble seeing how they'd make the same analogy since the one i used plays on something hidden (character) in men and women alike (i always thought about this analogy talking about people, not gender specific but i should've specified that at first that's my bad; while white supremacists discriminate based on skin colour

It's been known that certain historical figures had their portraits retouched to make them seems more attractive/young than they were (like Sisi i believe for example ? But also some french kings). My point is that everything we think we know about history, it's always something that has been heavily edited. Shaky comparison but it's kind of like this conversation : if people who read it go on and talk about it to friends or whatever, what they'll tell will be tainted by what points resonated th…

Personnally i find both sides of the discussion kind of dumb. There is no real way for us to know what she did or didn't say, what she did or didn't look like, what she did or didn't do. It's legends at this point. Like with any historic figure, unless you directly witness them, you only read about what somebody else was allowed to say about them. So i would actually almost be inclined to be entertained by this lord of the ringesque view of Cleopatra 🤷🏻‍♀️

Woman here. I did see these kind of messages circulated (although worded slightly differently and not necessarily in "feminists" spheres - but that's not to invalidate your experience). I do think it's wrong to state something like thus espcially if it's to silence other people trying to share their experience, but they do kind of have a point, i'll explain. Actually the ones I saw were worded slightly differently, saying that men usually are more successful because they tend to use more violent…

It’s true that men’s issues often get overlooked. But i'd like to accept the challenge : 1) HeForShe (UN Women) – Launched to involve men in gender equality and address issues like toxic masculinity and male emotional repression. heforshe.org 2) Erin Pizzey – Founded the first UK women’s shelter and spoke out early about male domestic abuse victims. BBC 3) Christina Hoff Sommers – Equity feminist who’s been vocal about bias against fathers in custody cases. AEI 4) Bell Hooks’ The Will to Change …

Well that's just plain wrong. But you do see this kind of things being said by men when a woman is victim of DV for example. It's a moot point. Biggest secret of all is men, women and everyone in between are just humans. There are gonna be awesome people in each gender category and awful/dangerous people in each gender category as well. I'm getting tired of this stupid gender war. Each side keeps complaining the other side is "generalising based on a few rotten apples" or whatever, while themsel…

"different" doesn't mean it's not wrong as well. To quote the example, it would be wrong in both cases to make a joke about DV, but it is still true that making jokes about people who are already structurally disadvantaged is very different from making jokes about people who are favored. Now whether men and women fit in those categories (and if they do, how so) is another story.

How did you get from "it's different to make jokes about people who are already structurally disadvantaged (women) is very different from making jokes about people who are favored culturally and politically (men)" to "it's fine for women to punch men" ?

No, i meant why have you never heard of a woman charged with a crime for that ? Or more so, why have you never heard of a man filing charges for that ?

Endo is quite common actually, it's estimated that one in every 7-10 women have it (depending on countries/sources). Also, fun fact endo, just like breast cancer, can also be found in men (i'm not talking just about trans men here, it's happened to cis men). Another fun fact, one of the few symptom management options for endo is a drug that is also used for men suffering from prostate cancer. Everything is more tightly knit that we imagine...

I won't answer the main question because i'm not a man. Regarding your questions on "grabbing" - an assault gets a qualifier (here sexual) mainly because of intent from my understanding. You said "If there is no difference between the amount of sexuality between the male and female chests, as feminist maintain, then how come a man who grabs a woman's breast without her consent gets charged with SEXUAL assault? I mean if in this matter, men's and women's chest are equal, shouldn't he just be char…

not to rain on your parade, i agree that men only drafts are unfair (even though a few countries also draft women - think of Danmark/norway, north korea...) however summing up what's going on in Iran by "xomen are being forced to wear headscarf" is hypocritical at best. Women are being deprived of their rights to get education, to speak in public spaces....women are being executed after they were raped because "sex outside marriage is unproper"...

Endometriosis is barely funded compared to viagra research. I think we could find examples and counter-examples all day.

Is it really Kool aid though if their sons end up being victims instead of their daughters ? If there are victims it must mean there are guilty people.

devil's advocate here : it's actually because it's ingrained in women from a young age (before feminism we still heard both parents tell their daughters to be careful about strangers, especially mean - and tell their sons to protect their sisters / as messed up as it is) that they take precautions and are apparently less likely than men to be victims of a violent crime. However seems fitting to recall that perpetrators of rape (no matter victims and agressors gender/age) are more likely to alrea…

Of course, i thought that first point was a given, i should've been more clear, sorry about that ! My paper (i'm a clinical psychology student in europe) isn't focused on how/why the manosphere appeared to be frank - it's more about how/why it seems to be gaining movement/traction these past few years. My goal isn't to bend the narrative to fit my viewpoint, i'm actively trying to go against it. If you're interested I'd love to share what I've came across so far.

If this was true I wouldn't be writing my thesis on this topic. And if I'm doing that, I'm fairly sure I won't be the only woman trying to do the same thing and by extent trying to understand men and their condition

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
