I’ve always described the issue using something like economic theory. Economic theory is itself amoral - the markets, supply/demand, etc. exist and are real things whether you believe in them or not. There is value statement involved. You can use economic theory in ways that invite value statements from others - beneficial trades, unfair cartels, etc. This subreddit is about theory. Although we talk about uses (I improved my life, I fucked a married chick, etc) whether anyone finds them distaste…

I was helping a friend who wanted to start a business and was looking for some financial investment. I mentioned some red flags and he pushed back that “ya, but that doesn’t apply to him, because XYZ excuse.” Tough love: No one thinks it applies to them because of [reasons].”

This is incredible stuff. I was hard TRP until after I started dating my now wife. A year or so ago this sub inspired me to bring it back after my daughter was born. Our relationship went from a stressful back and forth to totally smooth sailing. Thanks guys!
