I think what we can take away is how to be more approachable: don't take yourself too seriously, be spontaneous, be random, be fun, and when you approach girls your attitude will infect them. I thought this was pretty useful, even if it only reinforces these ideas.

How would you advise college students on the "don't-shit-where-you-eat" PUA mantra. For the same reason that coworkers shouldn't hit on each other, should students refrain from such actions as well? I guess one thing I'm afraid of is setting up a bad reputation for myself as the "playboy" or whatever, by being shamelessly confident in trying to pick up every girl. Any advice to maybe mediate the two extremes of interacting with girls?

Yeah I think this is what I made a mistake on today. I approached a librarian at her desk, there were other people in the vicinity. Although she is a receptionist, maybe she felt she shouldn't be talking about personal things. I did just as you said, asked her about classes, about college experience as a whole, about life and career ambitions etc. Tried to make her comfortable talking about herself but just didn't work out :( I left before things got awkward though, so that's a good thing right?…

It sounds a lot like you feel you need to dumb yourself down. I disagree, but I do see where you're coming from. If we assume compatibility is a function of intelligence, then it can be reasonably concluded those on the higher spectrum of intelligence will have a harder time attracting the majority of girls. This is a really good point, but I disagree a bit with "never" and point 2. I think there are times where you should talk about yourself. Maybe you're selfless, caring, kind, and intelligent, and you want her to know this side, the best side of you. You can find opportunities to show these qualities, or you can take 5 minutes to recite the great monologue of a past experience. Is this to build confidence or is it really true from the girl's perspective? Is it possible that she's just glancing over to check you out first? And if you turn out to be really unattractive (unrealistic given the context of this subreddit), she'll just look away? I thought you should at least wait for the double take to move in. I always wonder how a girl would react if they knew the game you're pulling. This seems very obscure and rare, so I doubt most girls will realize.
