So because you can't think of any then it must not be true. Then when presented with evidence you moved the goalposts. So what would it take to change your mind? Nothing?

A professor I had tore me down in class because he perceived that I was abusive to my wife because in his perspective I didn't hold to a boundary. If I hadn't, and she actually removed the boundary but I didn't know it, we wouldn't be married. Another male therapist has to white-knight for my wife when he didn't have the full story, image what I woman would be done.

I'm a therapist, I hate going to other therapists, partially because of something of the stuff others here speak about and also because how the majority of them talk about men is scary.

I'm a little saddened that Life is Beautiful isn't on this list, but it can be very depressing, but honestly I think that's the best example of a dad I can be and I watch it each time someone important to me is about to be born

Ah, now we're dodging arguments. You're really good at this :) Leftwing doesn't mean we can't compromise or recognize positive attributes in others, even our political opposition.

I'm a fairly new therapist to the field. There are conservative or moderate therapists out there, even if we are rare. I echo the thoughts from others, you should open up to him. He'll be able to help you more. And if he responds in a way that's not helpful then ask for a referral or if you like him enough then discuss other topics in the meantime. Therapists are also specifically trained and are ethically obliged to give referrals if they are not suitable for their client. Good luck, let us kno…

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm a therapist, we have a code of ethics specifically to prevent shit like this. Fuck this therapist, they should know better. Turn em in to the ACA

To be fair this is also the abstract which is typically limited in length and talks about the potential importance of the study and why you should read it. People in the social sciences understand that it most likely involves undergrads, who is typically what the abstract is for.

I understand your point. I did a similar study actually and we had a similar potential problem. However this is a meta-study, which means it looks at, in this case 5, studies and crunches the numbers between them. We don't necessarily know what factors went into making sure those studies were valid but considering they were peer-reviewed and put into a reputable journal I feel confident that they're making sure results are valid. Also, a meta study is inherently stronger than a single study or e…

An absolute overrides nuance, that's the whole point. "Take women seriously" would probably be better for example but it doesn't have that strong of a ring to our psyche, I get it, but it's so easy to argue against simply because it excludes nuance.

Thanks so much for this article. I'm a male therapist and directly identify with the majority of what is in this, so it's greatly appreciated to have feelings validated and a means of retaining a good argument.

A lot of people touch on really good points here, but something else which really bugs me is the self-assuredness and better-then-thou attitude that now that OP has both sides of the story she sees men still as absolutely unable to fathom what is happening to them

I'm really disappointed to hear constantly that therapy is never on men's side. I hope to change that, do you have any thoughts or ideas you'd like to share with someone starting in the field regarding this?
/r/MensRights03/12/22 06:18 AM

Refused to engage roflmao alright then Also love the strawman and attack on characters, again, when you don't know anyone. It all feeds into your ego, whoever is against you must be evil hence the name calling and strawman. Your argument is weak and pitiful and if you want to strengthen it you know what you must do
/r/PussyPassDenied16/10/22 05:19 PM

You don't even know me and you assume I don't understand your side of the argument? Man you've got a lot of learning to do. Genuinely, I hope you work through your ego. Have a good one 👍

I'm not even sure if I've come across many feminists. I've met tons of them. I don't get it. Btw are you drunk? This is literally the exact opposite. So men have to be women to be accepted? Is the concept of manhood such a threat to you that you need to despise it entirely? That's what your comment reads as

Yeah that's why anecdotes are rarely used.

/r/MensRights30/08/22 02:51 PM

I'm not saying it's the fault of women by any means and you continuing these strawman arguments is ridiculous
/r/MensRights30/08/22 02:50 PM
3

That's... my point. Men are seen as less valued if they don't do more. I've experienced it time and time again and I've talked with plenty of others who've also experienced it plenty of times.
/r/MensRights30/08/22 02:24 PM

Are women seen as less if they don't do a minimum of these? I doubt to the degree men are

/r/MensRights27/07/22 09:59 PM
2

Lmao that's not what I'm talking about and you and I both know it. You can be choose not to be honest with me- I don't care, I'm not going to be in your life much longer- but if you can't be honest with yourself then you can't be honest with the one person who can truly hold yourself accountable and the one person who's with you throughout your whole life. It makes one wonder how that would affect your relationship with yourself.
/r/MensRights27/07/22 09:51 PM

Well I'll let you put the pieces together with what you said. Honestly it's more of what others have said though so nothing you haven't heard already. Frankly I wonder if others in your personal life have said some of the same stuff this comment thread has said.

So, I made two replies saying that the original argument is garbage and the reasons why and you've made not one but two statements saying I should back off and that this is a hill I would "die on". Brother, I really recommend you look up logical fallacies. That's what this post is about. And you not only back one up, you commit several of your own, then downvote me because of my correction. So instead of taking the other poster taking it metaphorically they took it literally when we all know it was meant metaphorically... and you want us to applaud this? This is the same extent as the sister did, taking words which are collectively meant in context out of context to prove some sort of point. Which point is that? That you understand metaphors better? Weird, just watched it again and the cop tried gently pulling her away. When she strikes again thats when her violent tendencies are nullified. Does she need to be punched in the face? Ill agree with you, no. Would she have stopped after a medium level hold? No. Why aren't we allowed to hold people accountable for their actions? They didn't wail on her when she went down, they didn't physically subdue her on the ground and pin her down. Would you react this way if she was a man?
