They will take it to pay off arrears on the case if you owe more than $500 in arrears for non-assistance cases, or $150 if the child was on public assistance. However, call the child support agency and speak to your support enforcement officer if you can. Tell them you want to keep some of your tax return, and explain why. Also, legally it is none of her business what her ex does with the child support. She can ask for a modification of her order, but I think she will find that her support won't change much if at all. The state assumes you can work at least fulltime at a minimum wage rate (unless you can provide proof of being permanently and totally disabled), and can set up an order administratively that imputes wages if actual wages are unknown or the state has incomplete knowledge of the actual wages. First thing is that the state assumes that all parties involved can work at least minimum wage full time. That includes people who don't work, or are on public assistance. 2	Something I find disturbing on the topic of false rape claims. I'm tossing you an upvote because I think this is an important argument to address. It's important to note that the real problem is not accusations of false rape. The important thing to address is false rape in general. We should be encouraging people not to make false claims, and to clearly define what making a false rape claim looks like. 1	You're an $80k/yr. web designer because we say so! Be careful though. I don't know what the laws are like where you are, but sometimes if you are qualified for a particular job, and the court determines that you could be making that $80k a year for web design, there is a chance that you could be required to pay more because you would be capable of making that much, even if you choose not to. There was not an equivalent Psychology of Men course. I suppose if one of the Psychology professors wanted to teach one, I don't think there would be much opposition within the University. It really depends on the staff, and what students want to sign up for ultimately. 1	What would you do if you saw a woman drug her date's drink? While the bystander effect is part of the situation, there was still a lower response rate for help when the victim was male.
