I'm pretty sure executing someone is more expensive than keeping them in prison for life. Edit: There's usually near or over a decade of trials and other work they have to do before they finally execute the prisoner. When you add it all up its usually more expensive than just locking them up for life.

When officers arrived at the Olympia, Washington, home Saturday night, they found a troubling scene.
