Actually the cooking is very relatable comparison. My partner weighs at least 155 pounds more than I do and it has caused problems. He needs a lot more food and a lot heartier food..all the time. Don't get me wrong, I like cooking. But I like it to be inspired and fun. He needs so much food all the time. If I lived alone, I'd just do girl dinners a lot of the time, and cook a few meals a week that excited me (or were even experimental, healthier, or lighter). He needing to eat all the time and s…

It sounds like he wants to make dating and life some forever college application. Like playing piano or whatever is awesome, don't get me wrong, but if you keep talking about it, you get boring to most people. Or you have to play at every piano you see, you become that guy. Even doomscrolling can lead to discoveries about history, current events, brain teasers, pop culture, etc. The point of having things for yourself is to not 100% depend on your partner for entertainment. Why so much gatekeepi…

I don't believe that there are people in 2026 who don't know what exfoliation is.

I think people are forgetting that you're actually spending time with the person. So yes, fun and chill is super important in and of itself outside of proving anything. Women want to enjoy spending time with the person they're going to be with. The details can vary, but things like holding conversations, sense of humor, flirtatious banter are going to be hugely important outside of proving anything. No one wants to be with someone boring, bitter, unable to have fun, or always on edge.

Parties, get togethers, nights out. Anything really that feels like a party and is relaxed. Could include festivals, conventions, dances, fairs, balls, game nights, post whatever awesome thing you or someone else did celebrations, happy hours, wine tastings or breweries, holiday celebrations, concerts, art shows with cheese and wine, viewing parties, sports events, etc.

I want to second the partying part. I will never understand how the younger generation expects all the connections without being willing to go to the places where they happen. Parties, get togethers, nights out, trivia nights, general fun friend group activities, even sneaking some sake into an anime convention or something with other horny nerds. Are they really just putting up some pictures online and asking complete strangers out in the middle of the day and expecting results?

When they do care, it's usually in the negative. For example if a girl you had casual sex with is still in your friend group or you still work with her. Or still follow each other on social media. That can cause problems, fights, and even spirals down the line. Also, and especially if you're older, having had a ton of casual sex but no relationships is a red flag.

I don't see how this is gendered. Companies are notoriously ageist, which is why there are laws about it. Plenty of companies try to push out older men. I hear about it all the time. Older people of any gender face discrimination in hiring, as well as other things related to capitalism like securing mortgages. The troubles with aging hit everyone, only the very rich suffer less, and even they have to deal with losing loved ones, illness, and declining health and physicality.

But that's what dates are for. The whole point of going on dates is to see if you vibe and are compatible. Not every date is going to knock it out of the park. And it shouldn't . Sure if you live in completely different worlds you might know that before the date and not bother, but you need dates to get to know each other and to see if you have romantic potential.

I actually agree with this but it's not about cost. At a coffee shop, there are often people doing work or studying. There are people grabbing coffee and rushing off to important things. The lighting is often too bright or sterile and there's little ambient noise. You might even hear other people on awkward first dates clearly. And it's not too far off in price from just getting drinks at a place that has a better date vibe. Beer at 7 bucks is not that far off from a fancy coffee price.

Some traits are just more attractive on women than men and vice versa. I too know a real life brother and sister. The guy is tall, naturally large, overweight, has a deep voice, and is overall imposing. His sister is the same. They are clearly related. The guy has done MUCH better with the opposite sex than his sister, who struggles. Also, why are you randomly going around telling a friend they're not that pretty? She seems like she was just living her life. That's really weird and isn't a good …

She would care because she's being forced to sacrifice finding someone she really loves and is attracted to. It's kind of a mutual sacrifice and part of the deal for both of you to keep the whole thing up and keep both of you from killing each other or going crazy. That's my guess about this hypothetical scenario.

If you're only going on several dates over months, you're probably not that into each other and it will fizzle anyways, or you're too busy to seriously date. I dated back in the day and if two people were into each other, they'd still want to define the relationship and spend more time together, even just to chill, outside of a few formal "dates" over the span of months. If you want a girlfriend/boyfriend, you have to be a boyfriend/girlfriend yourself. That includes communication and your time.…

Most women can't even orgasm from penetration alone. And you don't need oral to stimulate the clit.

Micheal Cera has been married for a while now and in a relationship with that woman even longer than that. He's rich and famous and could easily get dates and I'm sure he knows that. Some men actually do prefer a meaningful relationship. Leo is not even more attractive than Micheal Cera at this point in his life. He just chooses that path and offers those women a moment in the spotlight and the payout that comes from that.

The point I was trying to make was that women weren't happier in the old days just because there were fewer diagnoses and available medications. These things just weren't known or recorded.

Yeah. Before, women were just dissociating, self medicating--drinking, taking more available morphine, cocaine, laudanum, and whatever was available in their era.

But people couple up and make moves and further their chemistry at the after party after school and work. You meet in a common place, but the magic, romantic or just a deeper friendship, happens at the parties and get togethers where people can relax, drink, eat, play silly games, talk more in depth.

Father's level? My father is a 6'3" multimillionaire who is also well read and athletic. I cared more about chemistry, which is difficult to feel out on an app alone. This is such a weird statement. My options at my father's level would have been...not many.

What I don't get is the focus on online dating apps in the first place. They're mostly a sausage fest--especially ones that have a reputation of guys looking for hookups. Just by sheer numbers, there are way more men. Then add the women trying to advertise social media or OF. Then the bots, scammers, catfish. Then note that a lot of women aren't going to be as active or become inactive altogether because of life, more important obligations, meeting someone, and generally not being thirsty enough…

Pretty much every prince was extremely handsome, rich, and literally held the highest status a young man could hold in the kingdom. A few exceptions-- Aladdin wasn't rich but was incredibly handsome, charismatic, athletic, and competent. And even he had to play prince for a bit. The Beast wasn't handsome, but had so much riches that he could give her everything she could ever dream of and was very strong and masculine. And even he turned handsome in the end.

Yeah, fun places. Social circles. I always get pushback about this and I genuinely don't understand why people are so against fun, social circles, events, parties, bars. That's how people have met for ages. Even nerds used to party not that long ago. A lot of hooking up and dating would happen at anime conventions and dorky get togethers.

Women are more bold in approaches at parties, nights out, funtivities, social group gatherings, etc. Most women simply aren't interested in a strange man in the middle of the day with no context. Back and forth escalation really amplifies the sex appeal too.

Completely agree with drinks. Plus places that serve drinks usually have a less sterile, more fun atmosphere. Better for building romantic feelings. I don't want to be on a date in the same place people are doing job interviews or working or stressing about work. Also, better lighting and easier to meet later in the day, which is more relaxing and conducive to fun.

It just doesn't make sense though. To sit through an awkward dinner with someone you already know you don't like. The food isn't even going to taste good at that point. Plus getting ready, finding transportation, carving out hours of your day when there's already too little time to relax, do the things you want to do, and have everything you need to have done be done. The mental energy to keep up a conversation when you already know it's not going anywhere doesn't seem anywhere worth it for some…

ADHD sucks. I've ghosted people on accident. I meant to get back to them when I'm in a better headspace and suddenly realize a month has passed and I haven't sent anything. Non romantic too.

Thank you. This is such a weird take. Having tattoos, working out, and looking masculine do not mean you aren't in touch with your emotions or emotionally intelligent. Just like enjoying drinking, being social, going to parties/bars, being attractive, playing sports, or even (some) drugs doesn't mean you aren't a kind/genuinely nice person.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
