"Women still pay more than men for the same health insurance coverage." Reading comprehension ftw.

It's not a brigade when you're downvoted for patently false statements about reality. Edit for link formatting.

But what you think is sexist, regardless of your misconceptions about gender.

That's nice, sexist.

If you don't think it's sexist, try the technique where you insert a minority group into your statement and see if you'd roll with that. If it sounds racist, your original statement is probably sexist. "I think black people are equal but they shouln't be leaders." See?

Unless they know about your stupid "techniques".

Way to be sexist.

Thank you. One of the major problems of the MRM occurs when members equate "constructive" with "destructive" activism. Constructive activism forges bonds with mutual ideals and goals. An example would be fundraising for a suicide hotline (or other help center) with increasing visibility in mind. More men die from suicide attempts so it makes sense in terms of the MRM. And it's constructive activism because it does not deter from other relevant activist goals. In fact, it would probably elicit re…

I fail to see how that invalidates my viewpoint. Though it is weird that my post history is stalked in this subreddit more than any others.

And why is that?
/r/MensRights22/01/13 05:55 AM

Yeah, I'll bet every group is guilty of this to some degree.

"I keep having to repeat this, MR is not about feminism." I agree. "Why do people keep wanting to deal with feminism?" Perhaps members of the MRM fear that feminism has wronged them somehow? Feminism is also an easier target than doctors who remove foreskins. A poster can bash any article, video, or quote hinting at feminism and feel accomplished for the day. I don't think that furthers MR as much as it fuels animosity, which in turn makes it more difficult to contribute to actual goals. Edited …

"I don't think talking to feminists is an effective use of anyone's time. Feminism is a religion, it survives on belief rather than reason. Feminists don't want to talk to MRAs they only want to talk at them." This is probably not the best way to open discourse with feminists.

I am a third-wave feminist. I know no feminists personally or through online interaction that think men should be eradicated. If you do know of truly radfem subreddits, please share this information. I was misled by your question since it was followed by the assertion that I must be a radfem based on my post history. Which is weird.

That's weird. Also ad hominem.

I didn't know there were any radfems posting in /MR.

Thanks for your opinion, but that really isn't how things are.

Okay... Do you know that third-wave feminists (1990's through today) do not associate with (and actively avoid) radical feminists who actively hate men?
/r/MensRights21/01/13 06:39 AM

I'm a feminist. Consent is a widely held ideal of third-wave feminism.

Assuming no other variables played a role... "Why is it that if a consenting drunk male and a consenting drunk female have sex, the male has raped the female?" They have legally raped each other. "A sober male and drunk female, the male has taken advantage of her because she is drunk." He raped her. "Or a drunk male and sober female, the drunk male raped the defenseless female." She raped him. It's not that hard.

Rape is about power, not desire.
/r/MensRights14/01/13 05:35 AM

Agreed! No one should be raped. And if they are, they shouldn't be silenced based on gender or whatever else.

I'm not inclined to engage with someone who has insisted "it doesn't. fucking. matter" what I think. If you want a polite debate, you're going to need a different opener.

"...but they are the only people in your movement that matter." Thanks for trivializing most feminists! Or maybe I shouldn't respond because "it doesn't. fucking. matter" what I think. But while I'm still typing, would you also agree then that extremist male gender SUPERIOR ones "get shit done" to discriminate and marginalize women?

SRSFeminism had a discussion about this the other day. But I don't want it to get downvoted and derailed by extremist MRA's so I will PM you the link.

"Once they're here and see all the support for both men and women, and how we downvote misogyny and threats of violence into oblivion..." I'm a woman and I have never felt even the slightest amount of support on this subreddit. But I have encountered plenty of upvoted misogyny!

"most people here are misogynists?" True facts.
/r/MensRights14/12/12 05:24 AM

What you're referring to is known as benevolent sexism and social and cultural norms perpetuate it much more than feminists.

It's a shame the misogyny can't be removed from the campaign as a whole.

So the victim-blaming of men raped by men, men raped by women, or both?
/r/MensRights12/12/12 07:47 AM

So is this wording triggering both to males who were raped by women, men, or both?

I know it's hard to fathom a world where SRS and MR aren't in complete opposition on every issue. But here is a case where general redditors are mocking male rape, which should ire both subs. While the article itself may be old, it is currently sitting in r/WTF. I didn't post their personal information. This is a link to the thread.

OMG how did you know that my life is reddit? I can't possibly imagine doing anything outside of reddit. I eat, sleep, and breathe reddit. Maybe one day I'll end up having a baby with reddit and live happily ever.

That's because these male generalizations don't limit or hurt men. I doubt that you haven't been taken seriously in your career because of your gender. However, the antiquated idea that women should be making homes and babies DOES HARM women who want serious careers. That's why you don't care about his statement but ambitious women do.
/r/MensRights19/11/12 12:38 AM

Why don't you go find some citations that examine the (supposedly) steep emotional commitment that men have in relationships which women simply cannot bear to imagine? Or some statistics referencing the percentage of women and girls that dream of being a stay-at-home moms that want to abandon any and all career paths?
/r/MensRights19/11/12 12:31 AM

Her point must be totally irrelevant now. How dare she expected to be taken seriously because she happens to be female? The nerve!

That is sexist. I pursued my current boyfriend beginning with a college party which continued later in the bedroom. He is the one I wanted before we had sex, and he is not aggressive. Instead of perpetuating gender roles which may attract women who also subscribe to them, you can ignore or protest the norms. The sex didn't even work the first time, so to assume that it glued us together is odd at best. While sex increases the neurochemical oxytocin that facilitates bonding and relationships, the…

/r/MensRights25/08/12 07:25 AM

Oxytocin and its male counterpart, vasopressin, are released frequently throughout the lifetimes of both sexes as a neurochemical involved in establishing and strengthening emotional bonds. That post is just full of shit.
/r/MensRights09/07/12 04:48 AM

Last time I checked oxytocin/vasopressin was not released during masturbation because it's a bonding neurochemical. It requires another person. Likewise, I'd like some studies that suggest it is released while taking drugs or while doing things we like. I believe you are not isolating the work of oxytocin/vasopressin in light of other, more applicable neurochemicals for those situations.

Why not try gender egalitarianism?
