I know many guys who live with their parents who still get laid on a consistent basis especially while I was in high school, nothing changed when these guys graduated. Anecdotal. We don't know enough about their living situation. It's hard to date when your parents are around, especially if they don't respect your privacy. Having sex is awkward if they're right across the hall from you. Living with your parents suggests lack of economic mobility, which is a turnoff. [Video games] have been aroun…

I think my ex used to post on pinkpill; can't verify since the sub was banned. A lot of those people (including her) have traumatic experiences and victim mentalities associated with them. They develop bad opinions of men while making bad life decisions. Once found a comment from a woman who encountered a PUA IRL. She had read the red-pill handbook and disarmed him pretty quickly. She said that some of the practical advice was useful while the rest was misogynistic crap.

Yes, the study has issues. I shared it because I thought it was interesting, not that I'm trying to support any "sides." A large, consistent replication attempt on it would be nice to see. Going off other studies and experience, I would still conclude that relationships don't last long without sexual satisfaction. It's a bit of chicken & egg -- sex is necessary to maintain a relationship, but emotional attachment is necessary for good sex.

That doesn't invalidate my comment. At this point, I'm citing experience and the link right above.

You should be fine. Emotional satisfaction is an important part of sexual satisfaction. You should have plenty of time to explore each other's bodies and it's not hard to catch on. Reading online sex advice can go a long way. When I lost my virginity, I gave my (ex-)girlfriend seven orgasms in one session, and she had a lot of experience.

I've lost interest in men because of... too small of a penis. What if they're really good with using tongue, fingers, or dildo?

Don't mistake correlation with causation. Emotional satisfaction influences sexual satisfaction. People who care about pleasing their partners get more satisfaction from it, and I can testify to it firsthand. I wouldn't get much out of a hot girl if I didn't care about her. My best orgasms from jerking off involved crushes I really liked. Higher n-counts are associated with lower sexual satisfaction. They may indicate an inability to stay in LTRs and build the emotional attachment necessary for …

If that study is even reliable, the results are correlative rather than causal. Attractive people may have shorter relationships because they face lower breakup costs by virtue of being able to attract new partners more easily. In any case, it doesn't contract the original study; it doesn't change what men and women want in partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/21 05:42 PM

That was only the first study reviewed in the paper. Studies 2a and 2b included 143 and 187 participants respectively. Two more studies (documented in supplementary material,) S2 and S3, respectively involved 189 and 252 participants. They add up to 857.

/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/21 05:02 PM

How is the survey worse?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/21 03:19 PM

That's not really what happens. As a 2018 study found, short-term relationships tend to involve less sexual excitement.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/21 03:10 PM

This study is worth a read. Men place more value on physical attractiveness while women place more value on earning capacity. Dating apps like Tinder and even Bumble are overwhelmingly male. Female hypergamy exists there, but it's not representative of the outside world.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/21 02:54 PM

Sounds for a massive potential for privacy violation. If anyone can conduct the background check, they can easily publicize sensitive information about former criminals and hinder their chances at changing.

Exchange glances, then smiles, with a cute girl and chat up. Nobody's around, both off work/class. Walk away in the same direction to get food or drinks, coming to life more as we keep talking. Evening hits before we know it. "Wanna go to my place or yours?" Book a hotel room if anyone's home for us. Fuck like wild animals. Go to sleep and wake up in each other's arms, meet her majestic gaze in the morning. Fuck again. Be sure to have each other's numbers by the time we split, meet up again. If …

Agreed. I watched my ex ruin her life engaging in excessive hookups and I think it would be just as damaging to men. I encountered a male user on this forum who had the same mentality and I can easily see it leading to the same consequences. My best friend dated a guy like that and it's just as bad for him.

23M. Had one LTR (almost a year). It was an open relationship, but she constantly ignored me to fuck insane amounts of people, including ones who beat, drugged, stalked, manipulated, and raped her. One wanted to have sex with her 12-year-old sister. I should have broken up with her earlier, but there were parts of the relationship I don't regret. Nearly 21, I had sex for the first (and last) time. More importantly, I finally had someone to be intimate with, no shit-tests or bullshit games of any…

I was referring to my late adolescence (which is still ongoing but near its end), not high school. I don't think I peaked back then. My life may certainly get better with age, but I may not have the same opportunities I did when I was in college.

I never dated in high school, dated only a few people in college, and only one of them resulted in a follow-up and LTR, which went down in flames. You may have less experience than other people your age, but you can build on it through practice. Partners should judge you by your current qualities, not by your past experience or lack thereof. Anyone who judges you for being inexperienced is unsuitable. You're not limited to single parents. My grandparents met when they were 30. People are having …

Bigger is better until 1) it becomes painful for the woman or 2) the guy is overconfident about size and ignores technique. Either way, coming up short isn't the end of the world. You can't go wrong by starting with oral or digital; the woman will be satisfied regardless of how well the penis works. Consider also how lesbians please each other well without any penises. If penetration matters that much, just use a dildo or penis sleeve.

I've given girls "mixed signals." Sometimes, it was because I lost interest or wanted a better one. Other times, I was conflicted over whom to pursue. Balancing different people is taxing, hence open relationships don't work. Men and women really aren't different in this regard.

My ex and I loved sending each other nudes, but everyone's different. Men and women aren't really different in terms of nude pic preferences. The issue is that men tend to send close-up dick pics, which women don't really like. Similarly, I want the full picture; close-up pussy pics weren't my favorites.

Because I don't want to show the world my dick (let alone in a guy's mouth,) nor do I want to give financial support to porn sites that have trafficked underaged content and actual rape videos. The end-goal should be reduction, not leveling.

[I]f people are open and honest about themselves and who their with, then couldn't they also understand each other's needs and wants? That's what my ex did. It didn't work. She got so entangled that she wasn't able to keep up with anyone, not even herself. One also knows almost nothing about another person's life. A casual meet-and-greet before sex doesn't come close to telling you whether someone's safe. Most guys don't want someone that loose, hence she filtered out a lot of quality. Wouldn't …

Dating before sex is like a natural background check. Engaging in frequent casual sex is how you wind up with bad people, especially since it repels good partners. Women will see through you if you're that loose.

I wouldn't want either, but the latter sounds less sustainable. If I keep fucking someone, I'd want their emotional attachment, otherwise I'd feel like a piece of meat. Relationships don't work if you can't support your partner's emotional (or let alone financial) needs. If there's non-sexual intimacy (hugging, kissing, cuddling) and monogamy, I could still find at least some happiness.

23m here. My ex-girlfriend was just like that and it fucked up both of our lives. She wound up getting violently raped by a man in real life. Some other guy she was with slammed her head into a window. Those weren't the last degenerates she fucked. One wanted to have sex with her 12-year-old sister, another stalked her, and the last one I knew about tried to isolate her from her friends. Is there any science to support this position? Women are more selective, but I suspect the reason to be that promiscuity, more often than not, is socially discouraged in women while encouraged in men. (IMO it should be discouraged in both.) The gender gap in the number of lifetime sex partners is narrowing. Men value commitment too. There's a reason many of us don't want sluts. For us, sex tends to be "symbolic" (for the lack of a better term) -- while we enjoy the pleasure, it signals acceptanc…

Unethical. You're wasting a good relationship. Getting yourself entangled with other people will interfere with your ability to commit. If your partner finds out, they're not going to stay if they have self-respect, especially if they already let you know what they want.

I wouldn't blame her for hesitating if my n-count was too high. On that note, I wouldn't judge her solely on the basis of her n-count. If she demonstrated that she was clean of STDs and (for an LTR) capable of commitment, I would accept her. I'd be offended, though, if she (more realistically) rejected me for being too low (1). If you have experience, you can show a guy what you want him to do. Improvement really isn't hard. Before I got laid, I did plenty of reading (and watching) on the intern…

If they're giving you low effort, just give them no attention in return. Keep an open mind, however, that they might change by the time they come back. It's also important to be direct about what you want in a relationship, because a lot of guys don't understand what they're doing wrong. Don't block them unless they're really bothering you.

Those statistics aren't percentages but probability multipliers. They refer to the number of times more likely users here, compared to the average reddit user, are to post on the given subreddits. A PPD user is ~63x more likely than the average reddit user to post on IWOH; that doesn't mean ~63% of PPD users do. (This is the first time I ever heard of that sub!) It's common in "bro culture" and for young guys (outside the discussion of romance) to talk about sex. My track mates and I used to talk about it. I had to tell two of my best friends in college about my first time. In normal interactions, however, we generally don't ask each other about the physical nature of our relationships. That's generally seen as "crossing the line." (Even dick jokes have a line.) When I was in college, I once talked to another guy about hookups, and he deliberately went …

I was in an open relationship with a bisexual woman for nearly a year. She was extremely promiscuous, participated in at least one orgy, which was lesbian. I don't want another partner like that, even if her entire sexual history was with women. Sure, it felt worse for my ex to see other men than other women. I wouldn't conflate occasional casual sex with promiscuity (frequent casual sex, more or less). Doing it "right" means doing it carefully, which isn't often the case for people who do it frequently. Doing it frequently gets you emotionally tied up and stunts your ability to form a healthy relationship. LTRs and marriage are not easy. When they comes under strain, historically promiscuous partners are at higher risks of reverting to their old ways. In my experience, being tied to someone such a h…

Funny enough, I found this subreddit through my ex-girlfriend, who was extremely promiscuous. Promiscuity is rising among women. TRP often exaggerates this trend, attracting a lot of betas who, by virtue of limited experience with women, share exaggerated perceptions of it. A lot of them probably had sluts break their hearts and skew their perceptions. At my college, there was an adage that "every girl here is either bitchy or in a relationship." I barely dated there; most girls were either take…

Dating before sex is like a natural vetting process. Whether you like it or not, sex builds emotional attachment and it's important to know that your partner wouldn't betray it out of irresponsibility or malice. Promiscuous people tend to be poor selectors, putting themselves and people close to them at risk. In addition to contracting more STDs, promiscuous people are more likely to suffer intimate partner violence and enter unstable marriages.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/20 07:47 PM

I don't know your experience, but promiscuous (or unrestricted) men tend to focus more on the physical quality of their partners while restricted men tend to be more socially selective. Self-esteem (as we know it) is naturally associated with confidence, which men need in order to be sexually successful, especially with attractive women. Maybe there's a certain kind of self-esteem or phenomenon related to it in which promiscuous men tend to be deficient. I agree with your last point that promisc…

Self-esteem/loathing is an interesting point, especially when it comes to gender. Promiscuous men may have something missing in their lives, but self-esteem is unlikely to be one of them. Otherwise, it's extremely unlikely that they would have a lot of sex in the first place. Mia Khalifa described her motivation for entering porn as a search for validation that she didn't have growing up. The closest male equivalent to that would probably be the cuck or, in trending parlance, the "simp" - a guy …

The terms often used interchangeably because the phenomena they describe aren't really different. An overactive sex drive often manifests in compulsive sexual activity, at least when sex is feasible for the patient. Otherwise, it would manifest in activity such as compulsive masturbation. Either way, hypersexuality is, by definition, a mental disorder. Overactive libido results in significant personal distress and dysfunction. "Unrestricted sexuality" is a bit of a vague term.

This information is quite interesting; it's always helpful to review the general causes of promiscuity. However, it doesn't answer whether motivations for promiscuity differ by gender. I'd like to know whether promiscuity correlates just as much with unhappiness and depression in men as well. Hypothetically, if increased promiscuity led to increased depression after the sexual revolution, there's still a question as to how much it contributed to the prescription of anti-depressants.

The former. I am not answering my own question here. It's well known that psychological traits vary by sex. I only want to know how such variation affects differences in promiscuity by sex, namely whether it translates to different causes of promiscuity by sex. I want to know why we feel like doing things differently. The Stanford Marshmallow Experiment doesn't explain much.

Interesting. These include sexual benefits (e.g., experiencing the novelty of a new partner), resource benefits (e.g., receiving expensive gifts) and the improvement of their seduction skills... I was never a fan of the manosphere, per se. With the obviously misogynistic currents aside, my problem with the anti-feminist movement has been that it often focuses on irrelevant issues and distorts its targets. No, homicide rates are lower among white females. Sorry if the original wording of my comment gave the wrong impression. I just edited it. I don't think rejection-based homicides are frequent enough to justify a fear of men. Are you afraid of your boyfriend? He's much more likely to kill you than your ex-boyfriend is, let alone some guy you didn't even date. Domestic homicides are no less brutal. I've felt genuine revulsion at hookup parties. They taught me that I don't want a lifestyle like that. A ONS is like eating fast food. A ONS with a slut is like eating fast food that's been sitting on the counter for days. (Let the number of days equal the slut's n-count.)

A fried of mine in middle school made a point of using your kind of definition to describe a "geek." A "nerd," in her terms, would be a socially inept geek. I still go by that dichotomy. As a nerd, I wouldn't police my kids for having unconventional, geeky, or hyper-intellectual interests. My family did that (in the former respect) with me growing up and left me not knowing what to do with myself because everything I liked was heavily discouraged. If my kids were passionate about video games, to…

My dad's no beta and my parents never broke up, but I feel like they didn't raise me to be enough of a man. I was never taught to place significant positive value on my masculinity. Even my ex-girlfriend thought that was strange; she was a feminist, but her mother taught her to carefully cultivate her femininity. High divorce rates, falling and late marriage rates, rising illegitimacy rates, outsourcing of working class labor, and the rise of two-income households in the middle and upper classes. Women have been entering the workforce with their high-earning husbands in order to sustain their quality of life, which leaves little time to raise their kids. Parenting has become ridiculously hard in the United States, having the sharpest detrimental effect on happiness out of 22 OECD countries. Males are inc…

As a 22m with autism, I myself worry whether my kids would have it. I want them to have normal lives. The mental health and family history of my partner definitely influences whether I want to start a family with her. (Some women I dated and liked had autism, schizophrenia, and other mental disorders.) Important factors include relationship strength, financial leeway, child-raising time, and symptom severity. An intuitive understanding of autism - from personal experience or strong education - w…
