Bro, this right here is the right mindset. What you posted in the original one is nonsense. There better be no "reassessing" after 6 months. Don't be surprised if all of a sudden she wants to "reassess" and be together wirh you again. And she probably will - after 6 months to a year. You sound like a decent dude, and there's a lot of crap out there. You are the solid, safe choice. But don't agree to it. You've given her plenty of chances to save it, and she clearly chose not to do it. She didn't…

Also that he is now with my ex and that she dumped me. Looks like your ex hit the jackpot... this right here is this guy's biggest (only?) accomplishment in life. I’m about to lose my shit and pummel him NO! This is something you DO NOT do under any circumstances. If he does it first, then it's self defense, but you gotta have witnesses. Respond verbally, do not engage physically. You have a lot more to lose than this piece of trash. Don't wrestle with a pig.

Can he ask for a restraining order preventing the boyfriend from being near his kid? Since he's a parent, and this is clearly a violation of his parental rights?

And yet none of them ever says "yes, there is another dude". It's always you: you're too needy, too attached, too anxious, too boring, too poor, too violent, abrasive, abusive, controlling, no fun, you smell bad, blah blah blah.... and she's a princess. Then you divorce her, and that's when it turns out she's been sleeping with another dude. And that is all YOUR fault!

Detach and disconnect. You were doing everything for her, and she was taking you for granted. Now you told her you've had it, and SHE wants YOU to fight and work on yourself to make it right. This has "no more mr nice guy" written all over it. SHE should be the one fighting and doing the work.

Gave up all your needs in the marriage? Well that right there was the problem. Your story appears very similar to mine, and I'm sure many others have made this mistake.

It sounds like youre stuck in not one, but two unhealthy relationships, and it stresses you out twice as bad. Attachment with no future is bad. Unmet needs with no future is also bad. Is one of them willing to put in the work, or is it "my way or the highway" with both of them? I see a pattern...

women are wired to detach from men they do not feel safe with. They say this in every book and podcast now, but is it really true? Animals are supposedly wired and can't control their actions, but even that is debatable. Humans, by definition, can use their brain between stimulus and response. And that's what sets us apart from animals.

Why get married then? To act like I'm on stage when I come home from work? To have another boss?

Have you read "No more Mr. Nice Guy"? She drives a Mercedes, and you drive a beat-up Versa. Let me guess: you probably bought her the Mercedes without her asking, because you're a nice guy. Been there, done that. Every psychology book tells us that you can't expect others to respect you unless you respect yourself. And a woman will not be attracted to you if she doesn't respect you. Don't be a doormat. Don't volunteer too much. Teach her to VALUE your time, your help, your money, your attention.…

Then why did you post it - to brag? People are trying to tell you this will do you no good. In the long run, it will backfire. I was in this same situation, and had this exact mindset - how bad can it be, it gives me validation, dopamine, plus I didn't want this separation, so maybe this is how we reverse everything. No, this is not how it works. In the end, I wasted a few months of my life. We ended up in the same exact place where we were, and had to start from the beginning. Could have starte…

45 min away from a city is not a lot for a major metro area. Looks like you're doing the right thing by trying to move. Don't get into this mindset that your clock is ticking and you have to find a new partner by midnight. It's dangerous. You may end up in the same exact marriage you were previously, only with a different person. And the marriage will end exactly like your first one. Focus on becoming comfortable being alone. I don't think there is a way around that. If you're not comfortable, i…

This 100%. When it happens, every man probably thinks his situation is different. Eventually we accept they're all the same. It's been described many, many times in books, on psychology podcasts and in YouTube videos. Once she loses her attraction to you, it's over. Your one and only chance at this point is to distance yourself - quickly and abruptly. 180-degree turn and pedal to the metal. Then MAYBE something will click and she'll reconsider, initially out of fear, later MAYBE you'll re-bond a…

I know it's hard, but look on the bright side: your son's reaction to what just happened is perfectly healthy. A tragic, shitty thing has just happened to his family, and he is processing it in the most normal, healthy way. This is not a given BTW, so dont underestimate it. It could've been different. She could've already brainwashed him, alienated him from you, made you into a villain, told him you're unstable, violent, an alcoholic, etc...

I wish I was in my thirties - you have plenty of time to start over. I'm in a similar situation, but in my mid-40s. I know people starting over in their mid-50s. The way I look at it, all the love I had for her in my heart, that's mine. She can't take it from me. No matter what she does. We don't love to be loved back. Loving is what gives us joy, what makes us happy. It's what makes love ... love. It can't be transactional. And if the person we loved turns into a pumpkin, it doesn't automatical…
