I ordered mine from China. It was a $5 magnetic "Lord of the Rings" ring. I'm not even a huge fan of the series, it just looked cool.

Are you saying that in Utah, porn can be a factor in divorce? What about vibrators, or anything that can be shoved in a cunt?

No matter what OP, you need this to come to her as a surprise. If she has any idea what's coming, she can turn the tables on you.

The only reason I have him most of the time is because I drop everything else when it's my time or when he wants me to pick him up. The parenting order is 50 50

I nearly lost my kid when she first left. Her new boyfriend reported me to the police back in January in an attempt to get me out of the picture. I'm not taking part in a dick measuring contest with you. Be happy you have your kids, and enjoy your time together doing things both of you like. You are never going to be free of your ex wife. Always take the high ground even if you don't want to.

No easy answer, I think. It's terrible that you're wife and dad did this though. I can't imagine how that feels. Just a thought, but if you can get a protection order due to the past abuse, it might carry over to your dependents.

Well, I don't have this particular problem with my ex, and my kid is with me 80% of the time because his mother wants to be with her boyfriend and friends. You know what I see? A kid that feels like he comes second around his mother. And she probably complains too that I don't encourage him to go to her place now. And you probably think she's right to complain. You can be right all you want, but once they are grown, you've lost them, and being right will seem stupid when all you needed to do was…

Can you explain what you plan to do then? How are you doing to show your kids the boundaries without harming them right now? It's a coin flip whether or not they will see it your way later.

Dude, you're 50 years old. If your ex is making you out to be a monster, then go act like a fucking angel. That's how you beat this. Don't come on here whining about how hard life is because you can't celebrate your 50th birthday with YOUR friends.
/r/Divorce_Men13/06/23 06:04 PM

I mean no disrespect, but while it sounds like your party has the potential to be alright, your attitude is off-putting and sours the experience for me. It reminds me of when I was kid and I was always worried about my dad freaking out about something.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but that's just the way things are now until the kids are older. It seems you can't fight your ex on this, so turn the table on her. Whenever she does something like this, you give it 110% and look happy doing it. Personally, I'd rather do something with my kid than my friends given the choice.

So, I'd tell her not to do this again. If you don't think your son will understand the situation, then skip your birthday and go make him happy. Birthdays should be for kids, anyway. Worst case, you can celebrate next year.

You don't care if your kids hate you? What's it like in your house? I keep getting a scene from the Sound of Music in my head. You know the part where the captain whistles and the children come marching in with matching uniforms?
/r/Divorce_Men12/06/23 12:27 AM

Also, has the ex stated a reason for her objection? Being divorced doesn't mean one should intentionally stir the pot to spite their ex. If there is a legit reason that you think would concern you if your shoes were switched, then maybe it would be best to see if there is a way to resolve those concerns.

He still deserves respect. People learn from their mistakes. The reason you won't make the same mistake as him is because you've had experience getting up in a broken home and it's affected you. One way or another, we've all done something wrong that made us end up here. If you think you're perfect, I'd like to hear your story. The dude has admitted to his wrongdoings, and that should be seen positively.

We split in 2019 when I was 37. I got really sick physically at the time due to the stress and went on short term disability for 3 months (I contracted pneumonia twice during that time and developed a bleeding ulcer in my esophagus that left me severely anemic). My job fired me on the third day back at work once I recovered. It messed with me psychologically that they would do that to me, but I got another job not too much later. Thank you for your support, and your words are really kind. I have a genuine question though: what does stability even look like anymore? I feel like I'm just drifting at this point even though I do the best I can with everything that's on my plate. Good days, bad days... They all seem to blend together. When I compare myself to my friends who are still married or were never married, I wonder why anyone in their right mind would want to be with me.

I'm 4 years post separation and I have only met one woman I was intimate with. She turned out to be worse than my ex, but was a 9/10 vs 6/10 for my ex. I've also been in university as a student for the last 14 months and that hasn't helped either (I thought I would at least make friends). I also lift weights 6 days a week, spend time at the park with my kid, have 25 years of guitar under my belt... Nothing works for me anymore.

When I was a kid, I found a shoebox hidden beneath the floor boards in the attic. Naturally, I went and showed my mom who was home at the time. Turns out it was full of love letters and other correspondence between my dad and his affair partner. My parents are still together, but my mom developed a severe gambling addiction that persisted over the next decade and a half. They are doing ok now though. I never told anyone this before... Thanks. I hope I didn't come across as holier than thou. I was frequently waking up to nightmare situations after drinking, and I'm grateful I was able to stop. I went to a detox facility for a week, so I didn't do it alone. My ex wife frequently reminds me of my past problems though, even though she had/has problems too... People will forget about this shit sooner or later. A long time ago, someone told me that only a narcissist thinks the world revolves around them, and it helped me realize that people don't give a shit about what happens to me, good or bad. I get that you don't want life insurance because you don't have kids, but health insurance isn't a bad idea, unless you really don't give a shit about her should she get sick. My wife left with my son and I kept asking her to bring him back. About a month after she left, I was first to file in the city where we live, and my lawyer told me that if I had waited longer, I might not have been able to get my son back. I think as long as the legal jurisdiction is the city where the kids live, she will have a hard time taking them away from you. In my case, my wife used phony abuse allegations but it didn't help her.

Dude, there's no simple way to get your ex to smarten up. If you want your kids to not have to deal with her behaviour, then make it so they don't have to. Bonus for your kids if you can keep them out of what will likely be another failed relationship.
/r/Divorce_Men15/03/23 05:43 PM

It can't be all of your time if you are sharing it with your girlfriend, as you wrote. You can either let your ex-wife get over it or do something to relieve the pressure. If it was me, I'd keep my girlfriend away during my time with kids. Problem solved and your kids will enjoy their time with you more.
/r/Divorce_Men15/03/23 05:12 PM
-14

I think everyone should be focusing on the kids after divorce instead of themselves. I'm not saying your wife is right in her behaviour, but with 3 kids under 10 and only 1.5 years post divorce, how much time with your kids have your sacrificed in pursuit of your new woman? Having strangers around your kids is unnerving, and if you want to keep the peace, prevent that from happening until the kids are older. Also, do you think your kids want your girlfriend and her kid in the picture?

Oh, and I've been cheated on several times by different women over the past 25 years. At this point, I won't let myself become emotionally invested enough to let it bother me. I agree that it is nuanced. If the child was very young, I don't think it is wrong to request a paternity test. Once the child knows you as dad, that's when it gets more complicated. For my situation, I don't think there would be a benefit to either myself or my child to know the truth. It would be devastating for both of us. All the memories we've made are not contingent on him having some of my DNA. Does that clarify my position? The world is not going to become a better place by treating kids…

Men like you that would cast a child away are the problem. I'm not talking about new borns, but toddler age and up. If you don't have any reason to question the child's paternity, then why bother looking for problems. Fucking up the kid's life in an irreversible way because of some new found hatred is a pretty low thing to do. I think that if a man is so hung up on this that he would consider abandoning a child that was innocently caught in the middle, then he shouldn't be fucking women at all. I dunno, its starting to make a lot of sense to me why someone would kill their partner. If you take away everything someone has worked for, and then handicap their future, what do you expect? It's a whole hell of a lot different than the emotionality we are talking about with regards to women.

You just acknowledge that its a valid feeling, and then you do something to focus on the now, like start a game of tag, or go play and seek.

Thank you sir. I have 50/50 right now, but in practice, my son is with me probably 75% to 85% of the time because he doesn't like going to his mother's. I've got a lawyer that is working with me on these issues, but things are moving slowly. I'm seeking 70/30 custody.

I'm finding it difficult to have that trust since I've found out how my ex is portraying me to her new partners, and possibly my kid. How would you handle it in these cases? I've basically stopped communicating with my ex regarding parenting at all, and while I don't think it's good, I don't know what else to do. Her new boyfriend of 4 months has called me names, reported me to the police, and told me he is going to see me in court to seek custody of my son. I don't know what he thinks he is goi…

Some stuff I do: I always make sure I am at home on the couch for my son's good night calls. He always asks his mom where she is when she isn't at home, and I want to be as stable as a rock for him. I will not date until he is older because I don't want to split my time with someone else. I want him to have all my attention when he is with me. I made a little coin that has "bed time" on one side and "one more game" on the other for when we are going to bed for the night I know it's not a popular…

I second this. I've made this mistake in the past, and it stays on your medical record. Because of this, a few doors have closed for me. Lord knows we don't need things to be harder. I've been following your posts OP, and I'm sorry you're going through all this. I know it probably doesn't help any, but you are not alone. Guys go into it with the best intention, but sooner or later they find out what the real story is. By then, the woman has had another kid. My approximately 30 year old niece has 3 kids with 3 different guys and she still gets tons of attention. Two of those guys are good dudes, and I still talk with them when I see them around. She also gets enough income from 3 baby daddies to sit at home all day. She's never had a real job in her life.

The only reason I put in the effort to begin with was because we had just had a baby. If you can, make sure you have some good life insurance that will pay out to your kids, and then try to live the best life you can. Doing that relieved a lot of my stress, because it covers two angles: makes sure my kid is taken care of if I die, and it lets me focus on improving my life without the need for a big picture. The big picture disappeared when the family broke up, and as hard as I try, I haven't been able to picture a new one yet. I told myself that as long as what I'm doing is posit…

I lost my job when my ex left too. I'm only starting to emerge from the darkest period of my life. The few things that keep me going are: 1) being as good and hard working as I can for my kid, and 2) not letting anything I do give my ex satisfaction. It's only in the last few months that I don't think about suicide, and we split almost 4 years ago.

This kind of reminds me of a group CBT therapy I was in a half year ago. Half of the group claimed that they were cured of their depression and anxiety by the end of the 4 month session. I agree, fucking bananas. I met the child when she was 4 and we split when she was 13. She never called me dad and was in regular contact with her biological father. I would have had no problem helping her for the rest of my life if she needed help (given she is my son's half-sister), but I did not like being forced to do so, and I started distancing myself emotionally over the years since her mother and I separated.

I've let my best friend know that Google will give him access to my account if I don't log in for 3 months. That way, if my son is still young, he can help him archive photos and stuff. I also have a folder on my Google drive that has life insurance policies, a dump of my account passwords, etc. I have a calendar event they recurs every 3 months to remind me to update that stuff.

I'm in Canada, and my ex got me for child support for her daughter from a previous relationship. She still receives child support from the father to this day, but I had to top up the payments to the minimum federal level because I earned more than the bio dad. Any single men in Canada reading this: stay away from women with children unless you want to potentially be on the hook for a kid that isn't yours. Look up "in loci parentis" if you doubt me.
