Wish I could pull up the study, but a few years ago there was research to the effect that, women actually lost years off their lifespan if they had a (male) partner, compared with single women. The opposite was true for men who experienced longer lives with women partners, compared with single men. Obviously my example above is predicated on the quality of that study, but it does seem like women benefit from being single, increasingly know it, and are increasingly free to choose that path.

Agree with it not necessarily being a turn on, but arguably it could be a turn off. Definitely would be for me. Closest analogy I can think of is the concept of hygiene factors in Herzberg’s theory of motivation. The act of performing chores is not necessarily inherently motivational (a “turn on”) but the lack of it is demotivational/causes dissatisfaction.

It’s not difficult. Look up the concept of hygiene factors in Herzberg’s theory of motivation. The act of performing chores is not necessarily inherently motivational (a “turn on”) but the lack of it is demotivational/causes dissatisfaction.

That’s fair. I feel the same way about the women calling themselves a “queen”, or saying that all women are queens. For me it conjures up Cleopatra-type imagery of a woman lounging at leisure and having people fawn over her. Cringe. Not something anyone should feel entitled to, or encourage others to expect. We, men and women, have intrinsic value and deserve respect. That’s more than enough. Prize, queen etc. seems to move into a narcissistic space. Prize seems very passive too as a concept. Do…

I can see how this might be true. But I have another explanation for why this can happen. Years ago I started to get to know several colleagues in my year’s intake. They were based in one of other big offices an hour from me and were good friends with each other. This group includes a guy and his good (female) friend. We all get on well, and I really click with the girl. After a few months I get closer to the guy and we start dating. When I’m in their city for work events he would bring me along…

I really don’t think that’s a Sikh thing per se, although I’m not doubting what you’re seeing. I’d really be interested in which country you’re talking about, because the joke with Sikhs where I grew up is that Sikhs do not like each other, preferring literally every other demographic. Can see it in corporate settings too - a new Sikh employee and the Sikh employee in the office would probably greet each other last. And funnily enough, thinking of people my age and at school, they were a little …

Right? How many times do we see men trying to punch above their weight with women.

Your post got me thinking. If we describe infidelity as cheating, are we referring to the cheater or the cheated? For example, are we labelling the cheater for reaping more social benefits/advantages than is their fair share / cheating the “system” (social norms associated with monogamy), or the fact that by locking their partner into exclusive relations and then reneging on the bargain, they have cheated their partner out of better relationship opportunities? The opportunity cost borne by the i…

TIL I had no idea what “rough sex” actually means... Strangulation, spitting....HARD pass. Good sex required, not flirting with death and/or disease...

“Hoe culture” is like the international trade dumping. Flooding the market with cheapness and generally ruining things for everyone in the process.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
