I showed the agreement to a lawyer some months after the divorce and the first thing she said was, “would you say you’re a reasonably intelligent man?” I knew I was fucked the minute she said that. She continued, “Why would you sign this?” So yeah, probably not much hope on the property side but maybe I can get out of paying for her college loans that occurred after the divorce.

I filed a modification when she finally got a job (after 5 years of divorce). It reduced child support and the property payments stopped but I didn’t think to try and get the property payments back (or applied to some other fictitious debt)

Honestly, I’ve grown to love not having much material things. I couldn’t stand all the crap she had in the house anyway. I’m just pissed that I had to pay for it when I walked away with nothing. I should have only paid child support not property payments, unless I’m misunderstand what that payment was. It was not alimony.

Thanks for this. I also signed a lopsided agreement without seeking legal advice just to “get out” except she also fed me some line about it “not being the end” that I should go “take care” of myself and get stable and she would consider reconciliation in a year. Stupid blue pilled me actually bought it! Anyway, I’ll be cautious when seeking consultations and hopefully get some straight shooters.
