There is a mindset that a girl is something you "have", like a possession. People with this mindset are loathe to give theirs up. Same mindset goes with babies btw. Teenage girls think a baby is a valuable possession, not the money pit it is.

I have never tried to restrict my diet. Reducing sugar naturally led to a decreased need for soda and sugary snacks. So reduced calories and reduced sugar, both by accident. BTW I had underestimated how much women like lean (not skinny) men.
