5	This is Ulwaluko, a particularly damaging form of circumcision practiced in South Africa. Many die or suffer severe disfiguration, yet it's completely ignored by the U.N Guys what do you not understand about this? It's tradition! 1	I understand why people are against female genital mutilation, but why does no one care about male genital mutilation? It is in accurate in that I generalized the surgeries by saying "lip skin" and not labia majora and labia minora and the other specific parts removed. I also completely forgot about the third one and how it involves covering the vaginal canal. 1	I understand why people are against female genital mutilation, but why does no one care about male genital mutilation? You have some major misconceptions about FGM man. The WHO has 4 distinct kinds, only one of them involves removal of the clitoris all the others are just taking some lip skin. 1	I understand why people are against female genital mutilation, but why does no one care about male genital mutilation? Not mandated in Christianity but it is mandated in the Torah(Judaism). That's not why circumcision is prevalent in America, it's because of the puritans trying to stop masturbation. 2	I understand why people are against female genital mutilation, but why does no one care about male genital mutilation? When I said Islamic law what I meant was religion and because their religion is so huge it is almost de facto law. In Judaism and Islam it is required to be circumcised, that's what it says in the Jewish Torah. On reddit specifically the majority of the audience is American, thanks to a successful campaign made by John Harvey Kellogg(yes, from the cereal) in 1878 to curb masturbation the vast majority of American males are circumcised.
