Oh no, in that case "all men are pigs".

Yeah maybe because I'm a girl, things are pretty and cute in my world

That's what the "and stuff" is for, couldn't think of the right word there. But "your hair looks pretty today" can work for everyone I think.

Yeah, it's one thing to say "oh yeah I guess it can happen too", but another to take victims seriously. It's still the stereotype that women are weak and soft and caring, and men are strong and able to protect them selves.

Exactly! I always call my girlfriends out on sexist shit, sometimes they don't do it on purpose, there's just a lot of toxic ideas that you can internalize without being aware it happens. On the other hand, I also try and educate some of my male friends about this, since sometimes they feel like maybe it's true and girls really can't be abusive.

You can say it's the fault of the patriarchy and still believe body image problems occur with men. Blaming the society for creating way too high standards even seems supportive of these struggles, since it's a way of directing attention to it. I don't really see how you connected these terms with not caring, so I'm happy to hear your point of view if you want to explain it a bit more.

Yeah but that's what's called toxic masculinity, right? The unreal images of what a man is supposed to be, with a lot of muscles and macho. I can tell you guys feminists strive to let emotional and vulnerable men also be seen as real men, but yeah, I guess it's not very believable with all these men-haters that claim to be feminists.

Yeah I use it the other way, but I guess the people that have the need to spread their opinion all over the internet aren't the ones with a very nuanced point of view. In my head the term feminist still represents equality so I just wouldn't call them feminists then. That's like saying IS is a good representation of muslims. I guess there will always be people that use religion, gender, race... As an excuse for hatespeach. Don't let it make you think all feminists are bad. I think men have so mu…

That's shit, I think the term manliness has a lot of stereotypes to it and it's stupid to think a housemen or skinny guy even, is seen as less manly. Using the term in such a hating way makes the real problem fade to the background, which is such a shame.

I thought toxic masculinity is not saying men are toxic, but the stereotypes that come with manliness are, which is completely different.

Yeah I think in Belgium you can "not aknowledge" the child, when you're not married, or divorced for longer than 8 months. But then if the mother goes to court, you have to take the paternity test either way. I'm new to this sub and I never denied men suffering from sexism too, but shit this is so much more institutionalised than I thought. Thank you for this insight!

I actually think about this a lot. Because i'm pro abortion, and think I should be making the decisions involving my body. But if you only listen to the one that's pregnant, then men don't really have a say in their own fathership, except the decision to stay or leave. Like, if my boyfriend wants the child that I want to abort, hypothetically, there is nothing he can do about it except try and convince me, but that's for sure not an equal position. On the otherhand, pregnancy is never an equal t…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
