Ex not paying billsFinally went court. After a recess in court my attorney called me back from lunch because she wanted to settle finally. So now we have an uncontested decree. (I think that is the term). Meaning she can’t ask for more money even if I get a huge raise or promotion. I was happy with it. I still had to pay alimony but it wasn’t as much as she was asking and it wasn’t as little as I wanted. I still had the debt. But I forced the sale of the house. My divorce was ugly but it didn’t ruin my credit. Jus… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/05/26 12:31 AM

Dating After Divorce With Kids… Am I Being Too Cautious?Dude. I have been divorced for over six years and my partner has not met one of my kids. I was also upfront about not wanting to get married again and not having kids. Will we eventually get married? Maybe. My point is, women are out there who do not care about the paper that says we are together. If we ever get married I will definitely have a prenup. It sounds like this person who you are seeing may not be the right person if they are starting to pressure you. Trust your gut. Don’t make the sa… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/05/26 10:45 AM

How do you all make ends meet?I did the same from Chicago to nc. Flights got expensive and I started doing Airbnb on the cheap to see my kids. I would also fly my kids to see me for some holidays. Totally feel your pain. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/04/26 02:47 AM

How do you all make ends meet?I had to get a personal loan from my parents during the divorce process. I have 1 month left for CS, then I have college expense. My savings is wiped out. I have very little for retirement, and I have two more years for alimony. I make close to 140k annually and I live paycheck to paycheck. My current rent is 1250$\month. I am fortunate that my current partner(girlfriend is a high earner). I will be moving in with her in a few more months. That will help me with expenses. I also have one kid abo… | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/04/26 07:08 PM

To Every Divorced Man Who’s Still StandingLike how the ex wipes out the kids college fund and then expects you to pay for college but you can’t because you are living pay check to pay check to pay for alimony and child support And then your kid gets into her dream school and now you have to tell her you can’t afford it and your ex has told the kid she does t have money but you know she has most of your money and kid thinks you have this pile of money just sitting around even though you live in an apartment that is less expensive then th… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/02/26 03:10 AM

What do I do with 1000’s of pictures of my STBXW on my phone?I agree.. my ex got rid of photos, I am not. I have kids with her and it is part of my life bad or good. It’s still my story of my life. So I agree with you | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/12/25 06:38 PM

Daughter always wants to be at her moms houseThis is very familiar to me and I know the feeling. My youngest is now 18 in July. 2 daughters. It never got better for me. But it didn’t get worse and she refuses to go to counseling. So. I am hoping things will eventually change but it doesn’t change my love for her. I do know that her space is the only thing she can control so it is her safe space. I am still hopeful things will improve but my youngest reacted much different vs my oldest. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/06/25 11:25 AM
Would you remarry and have more children in your 40's?Yeah.. I am 48 for reference, have a partner/girlfriend, and she is patient. May get married later just do to medical stuff and legal, but not rushing things. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/25 06:12 PM
Would you remarry and have more children in your 40's?Maybe remarry. But definitely no kids. Already have them from prev marriage | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/25 04:18 PM
Divorced M(49) with GF (39) she mentions marriage...I’m 48(M) partner is 48(F). She knows I don’t want to get married but she would absolutely love some kind of ceremony that shows our love and commitment for each other. I have two kids she has none. Yes one day we will probably be legally married for health and death reasons as we are getting older and I wouldn’t mind at that point. But while I am still dealing with my kids through high school and college it is a hard No for right now. We love each other and she is the best. She isn’t pressuring… | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/06/25 05:02 PM
Does anyone feel like their attorneys are just one big money scam?Hindsight.. I should have fired my first attorney after the 2nd arbitration. It took me about three months to get the feeling that I need to let her go. But I was too scared about the process. 2nd attorney was much better. And I should have found him sooner. My divorce lasted over 3 years. Would it have been that bad if I had 2nd attorney first? I tend to believe I would not have spent so much money. My point- trust your gut. If you have any second thoughts about your attorney… switch sooner tha… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/05/25 03:29 AM

Wife took both kids as a deduction. Wtf.Yeah… still screwed.. sorry about that. Nothing you can do until something is in writing. Or just file faster than her next time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/04/25 06:54 PM
Wife took both kids as a deduction. Wtf.The kicker is also.. alimony- she gets tax free money and you get nothing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/04/25 06:39 PM
Wife took both kids as a deduction. Wtf.If she has majority custody and it’s not in the divorce decree you are screwed my man.. same thing happened to me | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/04/25 06:33 PM
How long did your divorce take?2 years from filing to judgement for me as well. “It will only go as fast as the least reasonable person.” Is what someone had said to me and it was true in my case. I thought nah it won’t be like because we can both be reasonable. But nope. She was a vengeful bitch the entire process. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/03/25 12:59 PM

Attorney dropped me 2 months before final hearing.Even my new attorney had difficulty getting all the documents from her and was very frustrated with her. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/03/25 02:29 AM
Attorney dropped me 2 months before final hearing.Told me things would be settled in 3 months then another three months, etc…. Two years before everything was settled and I didn’t even own a business or have complicated finances to split.. but once it was done I felt liberated. But shitty attorney for over a year.. new attorney was done in 6 months.. almost fired her 2 times but I thought, it’s almost over, just a few more months, should have listened to my gut and fire her after three months of her bullshit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/03/25 02:27 AM
Attorney dropped me 2 months before final hearing. She also delayed my case because she missed filings. Problem is that it is was in a small city and no other attorney wanted to take a case that would sue her because they have to work with her in the industry. Only thing I could do is file a complaint and complain about how horrible she was while looking for another attorney. I will never live in a small city again. So word got out she sucked I am sure. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/03/25 02:23 AM
Attorney dropped me 2 months before final hearing.Same thing happened to me… poor communication, mine went out on family and never informed me nor did she have another partner cover her cases while she was gone. I was furious but I shelled out more money and got another attorney. I Just wrote a bad Google review. Hope she rots in hell | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/03/25 02:20 AM

Spousal support + living with new partnerI just know my attorney told me that if she starts to cohabitate spousal support stops immediately. I also have a nonnegotiable agreement. Meaning no matter how much my pay increases or decreases I pay the same amount. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/24 05:51 AM
Spousal support + living with new partnerThat happened when Trump changed the tax laws. Otherwise the x would have to pay taxes on spousal support and the person paying could deduct from taxes | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/07/24 08:45 PM
