Guys like this often think they are smart, that they are "playing"the woman. My mother was with a man like this after my parents divorced, when the child support stopped he left her

The entitlement is crazy, take my own mother for example. My parents have been divorced for 35 years and she still feels entitled to his money and belongings, child support and alimony ended long ago. She was complaining to me recently that he's driving a Mercedes and she has a Toyota, "your dad refuses to help me out". Yeah, no shit.

It's like blaming a female rape victim because she dresses provocatively

I get that, but the guy I'm talking about was a fuckin loser

Come to think of it I have seen this. I had a friend growing up whose parents divorced, the guy was a stockbroker doing quite well. The mom left him and got together with a guy who cleaned pools for a living. No hate on his profession, but no way he would have ever lived in a house like that otherwise

That's fucked

Mommy's hair and nail appointments, pilates classes, car lease, etc. Whatever she needs so she can be happy while providing SUPPORT for the child!

Don't want to spend money on it if it's not going to work
/r/Divorce_Men18/12/24 04:49 AM

I had to look it up, less than 2% of people are deaf or hard of hearing. Sounds like yours was similar to mine in that they make an effort to find fault in anything we say or do.

Why do they think they are never wrong? Because they aren't. A woman could never be wrong about anything that they FEEL, they are just trying to live their best life and THEIR truth is the only one that matters. A man pointing out factual information using reasonable logic is SEXISM

If you have to make a list like this you shouldn't be married to this woman. She obviously isn't interested in you sexually which is a deal breaker in and of itself

I stayed with a woman who had cheated once and she did it again with a different guy less than a year later. Luckily we weren't married or had kids. Point is that there are two types of people, ones who cheat and those that don't, you are married to a cheater who will do it again

It probably seems nonthreatening to women which is fucking perfect. Little do they know I'm a sexual deviant

As others have said, she is being ridiculous and likely this is BS. If she really is so obsessed with hating Trump and his supporters then she has mental health issues and she should seek help. Even if she divorced you she will have a tough time finding someone else who has no connection to anyone who voted for Trump, more than half the country voted for him.

Interesting she found a new counselor. Did she think you were stupid? "We need a new counselor who hasn't seen how I really am, that way I can start all over again playing the victim"

My wife has to wake up about an hour earlier than me and this is what she does, all the lights on, slamming the closet door open and closed, slamming the lid on the washer, plays music on full volume from her phone, etc.

I started seriously considering divorce when I realized I feel much better when she's not around, also when I started notice this sense of dread/anxiety when I hear her getting home

You're not imagining it or exaggerating, I'm living the same situation myself. Perfect example, my wife forgot something at the store that she knew was needed to make dinner. I offered to run and get it and then I even MADE THE FUCKING DINNER. This didn't stop her from blaming ME for not reminding her to get this specific ingredient or that we would have had some left if I hadn't "wasted" it. She complained about this situation off and on for at least 3 days. All because she can't admit she just…

I'm to a point where I almost don't care about money, I just want to live a peaceful existence. It's exactly like you're saying in the last paragraph, I'm living with constant anxiety and worry about what I might do or say to trigger the next meltdown.

You're probably right. Worst case I'll just have to move into a studio apartment for a while

The problem is that my mom is a problem drinker/alcoholic. She gets drunk during family functions and says things that are inappropriate and offensive. That said, I don't think I should be punished for spending time with my own mother. I don't try to force my wife to see her
/r/Divorce_Men08/10/24 01:08 AM
2

Yeah, I'm gonna file. Your story seems a bit more extreme than mine, but I could see our situation getting to that point
/r/Divorce_Men08/10/24 01:06 AM
2

This is the harsh truth. What's strange to me is that she hasn't been asking for a divorce or anything. If she feels this way why wouldn't she just divorce me?

They do similar things to people. Like they left my BIL behind one time for a vacation he was supposed to be on, cuz he was like an hour late to meet them

I tried calling her family and was ignored. When I showed up to the house only her brother was there and acted like he didn't know what was going on. Also I didn't mention in my original post that she took my heart medication with her so I was having terrible palpitations all day until I made it home

I would never do something like this to anyone, not any person. I must ask though, how did this happen more than once? And how was she able to put you in such predicaments?
/r/Divorce_Men07/10/24 04:48 AM
2

Damn, that's intense. The situation you are describing is extreme, and I'm sorry you went through that. I can't imagine being in that situation with absolutely zero support. To your point though, id probably be in the exact same situation if one or both of my parents fell ill
/r/Divorce_Men07/10/24 04:45 AM

Full disclosure, my mom is not blameless in this. She sometimes has too much to drink, especially at family gatherings like Christmas or Thanksgiving for example. When she gets drunk she is prone to saying inappropriate or offensive things. A couple of times she went on tirades against my wife and some of the things she said caused irreparable damage to any relationship that might have existed. That being said, I don't think it's reasonable to expect that I should just never visit my own mother …

She knew. When she didn't show up to give me the ride I told her

You're correct in your assumption. It's been an absolute shit show for years

Yes, there are kids. One is already out of the house, but the other is 17 years old, senior in highschool. I have suggested therapy before, but she always has refused. Perhaps because she would not be able to tolerate being told she has any culpability for our issues
/r/Divorce_Men07/10/24 02:30 AM
5

Yes, exactly. She is beyond reproach and has never been wrong about anything
/r/Divorce_Men07/10/24 02:27 AM

I've told her she's not getting any money from now on. If I have to take over every aspect of spending money I will. I'll even do the grocery shopping myself to stop the bleeding
/r/Divorce_Men07/10/24 02:25 AM
5

It's true. I didn't get home that night until around 10pm, when I got there she was already in bed. I confronted her and she acted like she was surprised I was angry, that I somehow deserved this. To this day she still has the same attitude. We have not been speaking much ever since as I don't wish to engage with her and I can't let this go
/r/Divorce_Men07/10/24 02:21 AM

Yes, I've already changed my direct deposit from work to go only into a separate account rather than joint account. I feel like I need to take control of things once again, even if we don't end up divorcing. It's probably obvious that we have other issues besides this one incident, money is a major one. I make decent money but we are always broke and living paycheck to paycheck, this started happening after opening a joint bank account. You wouldn't believe the amount of bullshit that we "need"

I actually did that a couple years ago and my income hasn't changed much since then. I know that I would be ok, but I guess I've bought into the idea that it's best to let our younger child finish high school as we both plan on moving states post divorce.
/r/Divorce_Men30/08/24 02:10 AM

It's almost comical. When I did what I wanted to do my wife raised hell, so I submitted to her demands and now it's almost like she resents me for it. There's no winning

You're absolutely right
/r/Divorce_Men30/08/24 01:52 AM

I used to have hobbies and it caused major problems, I guess it doesn't matter anymore though if we're gonna end up divorcing anyway
/r/Divorce_Men30/08/24 01:33 AM

Your wife sounds very similar to mine. Impossible to please, everything is some type of battle of wills, she's constantly trying to get the upper hand and exert power over you, everything has to be on her terms, etc. Divorce is the only option when you find yourself in a marriage with someone like this, trust me, I've (stupidly) been trying to fix it for over 10 years. It will never change, people like this (sociopathic narcissists) cannot change even with professional help.

Just wanted to chime in on the thing with CPS. Unless you were living in absolute squalor they wouldn't do shit. I know someone who is a social worker and as long as the house is somewhat clean and there is food in the fridge they aren't taking kids away due to any type of cleanliness or safety issue
/r/Divorce_Men26/08/24 09:40 PM
3

Absolutely. My problem was I hadn't dated many other girls before getting married and wasn't prepared for the manipulation tactics that women employ in a relationship. In hindsight I should have been more assertive and put my foot down on things that should have been non negotiable
/r/Divorce_Men22/08/24 03:45 PM
2

I feel the same way, I have no desire to let any woman get close to me again. My wife was the exact same way as yours, if I didn't devote as much of my time and attention to her as possible then there was hell to pay. Eventually I had no friends, no hobbies (I couldn't even go to the gym), and a strained relationship with my siblings and parents. I'll never let anyone do that to me again
/r/Divorce_Men22/08/24 01:54 PM
8

She just wants to stop you from pursuing the other woman
/r/Divorce_Men22/08/24 01:51 PM
5

This is very well put, I got married very young and I feel like my wife systematically put a stop to every professional plan or move I tried to make. She didn't understand why I needed to work late or on a Saturday or why it was important for me to attend "optional" post work activities. I honestly believe I'd be in a much better position professionally and financially if I had never gotten married
/r/Divorce_Men22/08/24 01:47 PM

You're right that no woman will help you achieve your goals. If anything, a woman will make achieving your goals more difficult. The way I see it is you are 22 and have goals, you should spend the next several years working to achieve those goals and allow nothing to stand in your way.
/r/Divorce_Men22/08/24 01:38 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
