I'm just saying there's a window where that sort of thing is okay and it's reasonable for the courts to enforce paternity on another man. When your child is 16 years old, that window has passed, because 16 years of being their father means they are now your child. That means that this man has been a father to them for 16 years. Should he now be allowed to stop acting in that role? Yes the wife is a dick. But that doesn't mean that abandoning children you've treated as your own for 16 years is right, or legal. Another way to look at this is that he adopted them via common law.
