So sorry this happened to you man and definitely preparing for the worse. My STBXW pulled a DV allegation on me 5 months into our marriage, literally made the whole thing up because I found out she lied about some guy she went to go see in LA. Could have ended it there but stupidly held on because she is an evil manipulative woman. Can’t dwell on the past at this point. Thanks to everyone in this community and their amazing responses

What about the fact that i have paid fully for the mortgage and all home bills since the purchase of the home? Does that really not factor in at all??

Thanks for this. These are my thoughts exactly and it's not about being cheap. I don't intend on getting litigious over these things when the risk is so high that i'll end up paying more for fighting, which is exactly why I am asking if it's possible to do this without having an attorney... I don't want to spend an extra 10k on attorney fees to get to the same result.

The latter for sure. Just hate the thought of such a materialistic, financially-irresponsible person making out so good in the end

Going through a similar situation and just had a consultation with a divorce attorney two days ago. For marriages under 5 years with no kids, it will be hard for her to get alimony. She is young and can work. Now, you do make a good deal more than her, so that could play a factor, but I think the most realistic scenario is that you pay her a lump sum and she goes her own way. Whatever you do, just be firm from the start that you will not accept paying alimony.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
