How long after divorce you felt like you are yourself again?I divorced around 32. Almost 40 now. It took me a good 3-5 years to figure out myself. I got depressed first, then alcohol, then anxiety. But I recognized the pattern and changed it myself. Therapy is a great start. I didn't even do that, tho I wanted to, just couldn't afford it. So it took many conversations with friends and close family to open up about my struggles. But you may find things that you craved in your marriage, aren't things you crave when you find a new person. What helped me was… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 07:08 PM
I don't think I can be a single dad.Life sucks sometimes. Especially after a divorce. When I divorced, the loss of my spouse didn't hit me that hard. Honestly, it was kind of uplifting bc I always felt I was consistently lifting her up bc she was always a depressive/anxious mess. So I took the hit being the bread winner, and I moved into a 2-bedroom apartment and continued my life. My 2 girls are my world and that's what hurt. Losing half/over half of my time with them is what sent me into alcoholism and depression. Now that I've … | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 07:00 PM
As a woman… I just wanted to say I’m sorry and I see youIt def is. We all have struggles when it comes to divorce. Nobody wins. Best you can do, is not dig yourself into a hole (financially, mentally, socially, etc.). I struggled without seeing my kids as frequently. And I dug myself into alcoholism. Luckily, I noticed the trend early and it didn't affect anything. But still is a struggle. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/26 06:03 PM

Wife asked for Divorce during argumentCouple things, you say you’re a good husband but you pushed her. She “has all day” but has 1 kid and another on the way. Have you never stayed home with your child and experienced how exhausting that is? Not judging but I think you need to work on your anger management. Not how divorce works, unless there is reason to believe the children are in immediate danger. Typically, the courts don’t really care about over-cleanliness, or slightly dirty. If there is a legit health concern over filth is wh… | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/26 04:08 PM

Bumped into ex todayNah you’re not alone. My ex is with some dude she wasn’t with that led to our divorce and I have no desire to say hi. why subject myself to the awkward when I don’t plan on having a relationship/friendship with them? So I can hang out with them at my children’s bday parties?Reason being is if she likes him, I don’t really care to associate with her or her future relationships. I don’t care for my ex or who she associates with. So I’m not doing that either. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/12/25 09:59 PM
Why wait to hook up?I think it depends on the person. If you aren’t getting involved in someone and plan on having them kick rocks at the end of the day, go for it. But make sure you make that known. Problem lies in the fact that if you find someone you resonate with, you’re potentially opening yourself to a relationship when you haven’t had time to be single and find happiness just being you. It’s a codependency thing that some people don’t realize they have. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/12/25 09:44 PM
She’s leaving me. How do I behave now?She is now your enemy. Don’t let her take you for a financial ride. Try and be civil. But don’t be flexible. What’s yours is yours. No bending on necessities. If she isn’t willing to bend on what you want or need, get yourself a lawyer. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/10/25 06:38 PM
Is anyone currently about to or in the process of devorce?Just finalized mine. Happy to discuss if you need to vent. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/08/25 09:23 PM
Losing a wife and best friendIt sucks to hear. I understand the hurt. But you’re not her best friend. Go out with/game with the guys again and tell them. Trust there are others that know your pain. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 03:54 PM
Guilt over Hook UpYou’ll be fine with some time. In my post divorce it messed me up for some time. Bc my ex and I RARELY had sex so “things” didn’t work bc I was used to such neglect, so very specific circumstances had to be in place for it to work. But now, with some distance things work much better and I don’t even think about it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 03:48 PM
Wife Crash and burn storiesFacts. I ignore my ex for the sole part of my life bc her finding happiness is not my priority. I build my own happiness now and my kids will learn the truth when the get older. I know I helped my kiddos develop a good head on their shoulder. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/08/25 02:11 AM
Wife Crash and burn storiesDude same. I can’t stand how gaslighting and manipulation and accountability avoidance seem to be a standard for most women. I just don’t understand it. My ex did the same shit. Like, she cheated on me and it was somehow my fault that she did stupid shit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/08/25 01:57 AM
Wife Crash and burn storiesHonestly dude, it made me wonder if what I actually had in the beginning was really ever love at all. Bc I don’t truly think it was bc with my current wife, anyone says some shit that bothers me and I almost wanna rip their face off. Never truly felt that way with my ex-wife. But I will say that time heals most things. The intensity I feel with my current wife in the bedroom is much more solid and heartfelt than it was with my ex. So it makes me question what I had in the beginning wasn’t really… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/08/25 01:31 AM
Wife Crash and burn storiesI wouldn’t say crash and burn, but definitely a defining and humbling moment for her. After a few years of separation, financial constraint, and back-and-forth, my ex came onto me in my current relationship with my (now) wife, but (then) was my gf at that time. Her words were, “I’m tired of the back and forth schedules, the switching, the inconsistency, I just want a balanced schedule with the girls (our two kids). Will you promise me if things don’t work out with you and Shannon (my current wif… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/08/25 12:44 AM

Broke and beat down dadSo technically there is no such thing as a “military lawyer”. You can have civilian lawyers claim they are military friendly and will provide discounts. There is a military counsel, which is like an attorney that gives you advice for your situation, but they cannot represent you in court. I used a civilian guy and we have a hearing with my exes attorney and GAL in early August. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/25 11:26 PM

Working on my bachelors in cyber then hopefully PCS back to Langley where my kids live with their mother. Then try and do 50/50 and lessen the child support then. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/25 09:07 PM |
