I love my wife with my whole heart, but she wants a divorce. She is ~10-50 steps ahead of you probably. Protect your boys and yourself from her selfishness. Anyone willing to destruct your family is your opponent…no matter who it is. Protect your peace! You are now playing chess, and from what you’re saying it sounds like she’s done. Prepare both ways. You do not have to go scorched earth right off the bat…and if I’m guessing right you hold all the cards so plan everything out (both ways), and be ready to strike as necessary. Sounds like you’re grieving c… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/26 09:52 PM
I wanted a nice simple life with my wife.6 kids + 1 adult can take care of 7 pets easy. That’s man on man D. Great opportunity for kids to take on some responsibility if not already. People, especially kids get attached to their pets, thus not the best direction to rehome pets if their mom/wife is leaving. Pets tend to be so supportive in harder uncertain times. My STBXW had to vacate the home this past week, and it ended up being her parenting week as well…the dog?!?…no, he stays with me!…forever 😁 | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/07/26 10:06 PM
Tell me how it was living with your soon to be ex through the divorce.Needed to hear this! I’m ~1.5yrs in and ~95% done per lawyer, but STBXW didn’t like what was being decided so fired 1st lawyer, and 2nd lawyer promised “results.” “Results” = a surprise emergency protective order that was vacated the following day by me & my lawyer. Follow up hearing tomorrow to close it out 🤞 | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/06/26 01:49 AM
I have a lack of empathy for any man willing to marry at this point.“most American women I’ve met are not nearly as interesting as they seem to think they are.” Interested in your thoughts + the groups in terms of overall top nationalities for women in terms of a quality spouse: Korean? Ukrainian? Norwegian? Lay it on me! I fascinated by this topic! | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/05/26 08:10 PM
How do you guys cope with the idea of losing your hard earned assets during a divorce?Mother of God, you’re whining about a 3mo divorce w/ no kids?! Sweet f’ing Christ get it together, man up, and figure out the easiest situation + have some respect for the men on here that are dealing with life ending/crippling situations. You might lose some money, and you’ll rebuild. You’re going to be ok. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/26 04:45 PM
When do you guys take off your ring?Kept mine on for longest time (STBXW took hers off years ago), and one day something happened where I had enough, and I tossed it in the trash…not even the recycling 😁 | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/26 02:45 AM

Nobody asks or cares, unless its lecturing me.....Freedom comes at a (high) cost, and sounds like both you and/or your son are on the path to freedom. Congrats…and other people can f their own face. Going through my own version of this, and i humbly tell people “I need their ___ like I need an an asshole on my elbow” Figure out your support circle, and increase/decrease as necessary. You are the CEO of your own life: hire & fire personnel as needed | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/04/26 03:47 PM
Doing everything right only gave me more pain and suffering. You are dealing with adversity. It’s not about the event - it’s about your response. Recommend stoic philosophy. Partying, drinking, f’ing, etc are empty paths in the end. Take care, and keep going. Hang in there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/26 02:33 AM
What the fuck? Was in very similar boat for last ~11yrs, til I finally had enough and filed. You have time to plan your potential exit strategy - especially financially, thus if you had to make changes, you’re playing offense. Doubtful she changes, unless for the worse…and what motivation does she have to change?? What would your asks be? How ridiculous do they sound??…”hey adult mom spouse, can you start showering more often?” I’m not telling you to file/leave. I am telling you to thoroughly plan an exit stra… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/02/26 01:15 AM
Let me be the bad example“she’s gonna hurt”: not your problem. You now have an opponent. An opponent that is attempting to disrupt your way of life. Play to win. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/01/26 01:43 AM

Question for divorced men. Why do some of you see an fwb instead of a prostitute for sex and vice versa why do some of you see a prostitute instead of a fwb?Now this is a perfect response. Crushed it. Respect 🤜 | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/12/25 01:31 AM
Christmas gift for a man having a tough time with divorceAs someone going through this - something that requires as lil work/effort on my end + not a thing/stuff, but an experience. My sister, who has been a giant help/resource for me through during my divorce adventure, has tried gifting me a year subscription to those Masterclasses, or gifted books. My response each time: “thank you for thinking of me, and you may not realize it, but you just gave me a job” I can barely concentrate/focus rn and not for long, thus something relaxing + experience base… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/12/25 11:41 PM

Lawyer told me in a divorce I’d be financially wrecked. Wife is emotionally gone. Any dads survive getting hit with this reality?Attempt mediation? My buddy recently got divorced (L.A. area), and just settled via mediation. I thought he was toast: 2 kids, wife using biz acct as piggy bank + she had no real job. Dad doing most at home and work. He settled via mediation where my divorce has no end in sight. I thought no way mediation would work for him as wife is out there, but she capitulated. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/12/25 06:32 AM

It all happened todayYou are dodging so many massive bullets, yet you’re in the trench dealing with immediate hurt. Would you rather have her do this now, or 5-10yrs down the road, with shared assets, a home, kids, etc. Do you even have a pet together rn?…if not, holy shit - you hit the breakup lottery. The lease sucks, but very breakable. …tbh I would use your story wherever it can benefit you - landlord, rebound hook-up, etc. People are understanding + have gone through similar or a friend/family member has. Trust… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/10/25 02:02 PM
It’s that time…Opportunity here for speedy divorce, and/or mediator - especially since no kids. File first to be petitioner. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/10/25 09:03 PM
I can’t let go! I want just want to scream!!Biggest recommendation not listed: NEVER raise your voice moving forward. My STBXW poured a can of soda onto bacon I was cooking that splattered hot grease all over my hands and arms. Scared the shit out of me and I went sideways reading her the riot act w/ my daughter in earshot. STBXW (and a SAHW) used that outburst to file motions that I narrowly beat: would have been kicked out of the home + supervised visits…and I’m Mr Mom + breadwinner in my situation…almost wiped away by not controlling m… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/10/25 07:04 PM

The hatred is palpableAgreed. Immediate thought was why wait for opposing side to file when you can control the chess board?? OP - in very similar situation, but I filed first, and grateful I did so. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/07/25 05:40 PM
Should I leave? The fact that you have no kids + your properties are pre-marital makes it hard to not take a lonnnnnnng look at divorce while untangling is by far simpler. Highly similar experience in relation to the negativity, walking on eggshells, concocting perfect wordings of phrases, few similar interests + lack of similar goals. Main difference is that I have a beautiful daughter w/ my train wreck of my wife. What is keeping you around?…loss aversion? She would have changed up by now. Probably not happen… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/06/25 03:04 AM
First postHello. Will hit 7yrs sober next month. One of the reasons I got sober was I knew divorce was imminent, and never wanted alcohol used against me. Filed in February, and dealing with the rollercoaster. It’s not for everyone, and I can guarantee you sobriety is the best choice I made in my life…so much so I mention it in my daily prayer (“I’m grateful for sobriety…best choice I ever made”)…side note, I’m not religious, but have gotten into a morning prayer. Hang in there. You’re not alone. …figure … | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/06/25 01:25 PM
I'm Falling ApartRespectfully you need therapy/someone to talk to…which it sounds like you have in the past + maybe currently do. Feel like anything I say past this point will be opinions + finger points. Just know your child is defenseless, vulnerable, needs your love, and didn’t ask for this…please keep your child safe while you work through what you need to work through. It sounds like you work a shitload of hours on top of a newborn…which is a hellacious workload. Is part of this feeling guilty for the amoun… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/05/25 12:51 AM

Those of you who had wives who “changed” after marriage or children.Yes! Underrated topic IMO. STBXW was (mis)diagnosed w/ ADHD post pregnancy, and that changed a lot IMO. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/25 11:50 AM
AcupunctureHighly highly recommend sensory deprivation tank / float tank. Only positives come from floating - feeling refreshed, rested, clarity, even made a buddy go with who has nagging back problems…fixed! | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/25 01:50 AM
Just curious… for those who initiated the Divorce due to reasonings other than infidelity, why did you initiate? How is life, and your mental state now (post Divorce)?Amazing response. Literal gold. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/25 01:46 AM
I truly dislike my ex-wife, I feel she wasted my time getting married to me.Get busy living, or get busy dying | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/04/25 02:40 AM
Today I broke downHang in there. Sounds like you’ve started grieving the death of the marriage. …and it also sounds like you’re a kick ass dad who cares about his kids. That’s worth fighting for in terms of being that go-to rock of stability for your kids. I’m early in the process, and thus far, grieving has been by far the hardest part IMO. Keep going! | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/04/25 05:59 PM
44M, starting divorce, 3 kids… and feeling like I’ve already missed my last trainOn paper via your explanation - your situation doesn’t sound completely horrific. Maybe get the apartment up & running, the day to day/kids logistics down pat for the most part, all the while allowing ideas of what to do w/ your time to flow? Sounds like maybe baby steps of crawling, walking, then running might be good approach? You work remote - fostering a dog possible in your area/situation? Film club?…watch a movie w/ someone? Pass down your love of film via fave genres/age appropriate movie… | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/04/25 12:57 AM
I want to be okay.Hang in there, and keep going. It’s a roller coaster vs an escalator. Embrace the adversity! Amor fati! “No man is more unhappy than he who never faces adversity. | 2 | Wife is pushing me to take money and file uncontested - want to check for all the blind spots..From everything you’ve stated, and regardless of whatever you choose to do: you hold ALL the cards IMO. Like you have two cowboys (kings), and she’s got nothing but the ability to bluff ($30k offer). What is unclear: you state “one-week separation” before filing” + “wants me to wait until she closes on a house before we file”: have either of you filed already? Is this all very recent? Yes, let her close on that house first: 1. you’re being agreeable, 2. dumb on her part b/c that new home is now … | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/04/25 01:45 AM
| 1 | Did you have to pay alimony of your STBXW was a stay-at-home mom? What factors effected thatIt does not count for something in relation to the dissolution of marital assets. | 3 | Toxic Wife, Paternal Fraud^ this. Take action & play offense here ie file first! …sadly, it doesn’t sound like your wife or her family are switching up and going to be amicable all of a sudden, thus it’s time to make the change for you…as painful as it may be.
