No one deserves to hide a significant part of themselves, but to play devil's advocate, how do you know being authentically yourself all the time actually makes people happy? Men do better with partners than without. You said so yourself, "men will also be HAPPY to keep the lie going."

No one is ever authentically themselves all the time. I think OP said not to go crazy about painting yourself in such a different light. If men knew nothing about makeup I doubt you would be calling women liars for wearing foundation. The problem is the dating game sucks. And it probably will for a long time. Dating requires conformity. I don't expect ideal perfect behavior from men or women who suck at the game, because the rules are stupid.

I like how you write. Kinda hate your analysis. I hard agreed with your statements of both genders hating one another for failing to live up to their romantic fantasies. However most people are still in or had relationships. If you have friends then you would see a variety of personalities and classes being together. Maybe not for the future tho... It's not just biology, we kinda used to fuck a lot, somethings different now. Society is different. We have gotten too materialistic and too greedy f…

If we're accepting the premise of men just want pretty girls, girls just want big house big man, then why single men out for being shallow? Wouldn't women be just as gross for judging a men purely for his resources? Just so you know, if you say women aren't exactly that way, or not all of them are that way then we can probably say the same about men. Yay, we're not all that shallow so let's get along!
/r/PurplePillDebate21/11/24 06:18 AM

You can cheat in a open relationship too. For example, you might have a rule that your significant other can sleep with anyone other than your friends. Or you can sleep with anyone but never as a secret. Monogamy has plenty of reasons for being healthy for a relationship (won't get into it since it's not the topic) it's just that society has taken the worst approach to it. It's best to analyze your demands as well before asking your partner.

I think it's because life can be very complicated, and "you cause your own problems" seems to simple to be compassionate especially if your tone is off. You probably wouldn't think a guy who said to take personal responsibility for all the shit women go through as very compassionate, right? Everyone's behavior can be attributed to their environment, in which case do you still blame them or their environment? If it's a mixture, then you should be talking about both rather than consistently leavin…

I didn't say ALL women. And you didn't seem to criticize me for the male example. And I don't just pay attention to superficial women, I'm paying attention to you😆 It's true that the romantics might always find each other, but I guess what I'm wondering is if it's possible to temper down the gender wars by making things less superficial, and be able to appreciate each other the way you described.

As an artsy sensitive type I totally connected with the way you described love. But more to the spirit of OP's text (not the title), isn't it quite out of fashion? Do you think how transactional relationships are nowadays(or since forever actually) get in the way of people being able to manifest love? For example, do you think a woman requiring her partner to be taller than her and make a significant amount of money gets in the way of her appreciating an ACTUAL person? The same for guy seeking a…

Plenty of men criticize Andrew Tate. Maybe not in the pools you swim in, maybe find a new pool if you can. Also the wolf pit you want to leave men in is exactly why some men worship idiots like Tate, so thanks for feeding young men's anger I guess.

Regardless of your nature you still have choice, or most men would be committing crimes that would put them in prison Ok one last time. Nature seems quite malleable and you didn't counter my example of perception of hair or violence, in fact, you outright agreed it's a choice. Unless you mean that the hair stuff wasn't part of men's nature, but you'd be wrong. It WAS nature and we CHANGED it. Why do we keep running in circles on this? We agree then, people have more of a choice and aren't comple…

Whether you find someones nature more immoral or not doesn't matter, you said it can't be changed so men can't change violence. After searching for a bit it does seem there scientific information about egalitarian societies before civilization. But thinking about it, why does that matter? Those conditions aren't replicable now. And being a layman, I don't know if to disregard the scientific articles that claimed that, once again, claimed that that human period was more complicated than to just s…

I'd never heard of period in human history, whether in civilization or pre-civilization be described as egalitarian. I'd like to hear what egalitarian system you know of before the "thousand years of rigging. Yes violence is mostly a "male" thing, women aren't exactly free from those wants either, but more importantly it seems my point went over your head. If you want to excuse certain behavior because of "nature", then I better not see you criticize men for raping or shrugging their soldiers at…

First of all, you seem to see women the way angry virgins see women. Secondly, I think we're working on a different understanding which way I think we're inevitably going to go around in circles. I think that there are men who have a lot going for them but won't find a partner, and you seem to believe that is not likely or very rare, that's why u keep saying you won't want the men you don't want. But what I'm saying is those guys DO have something going on, but society can be quite unforgiving f…

Humans are more complicated I think. So is the animal kingdom btw just not as complicated as humans. But by this reductive view of our "nature", then women should be following their nature by staying home, cooking and acting feminine no? Are all the career women out there just faking it? Before the "few thousand years of rigging" men would've been more violent towards women, and openly taking young girls. Violence, aggression and violent sex are also in nature, but unlike animals we made the dec…

Yeah I think calling it a solution was too strong on my part. I kinda meant as a hail Mary desperate attempt that men (including the popular ones that women want) could help men doing what I said above. In this unlikely scenario, the popular guys would also impose their change of standards, unlikely but possibly leading to a cultural change where women might let go of certain standards. Like if men had to spend time being a woman, they'd probably be much more empathetic and appreciative of women…

That's interesting (not being sarcastic). Does the study say the partners "feel" scrutinized about their looks or ARE actually scrutinized? Also even if women are more likely than men to be scrutinized about their appearance, does the study indicate the percentage total of women who feel that way? To your second point, I think you're personal experience might have thrown you off. Even your description of "midsize with very small boobs", isn't that bad, I promise you there's more chance of a guy …

He says that men should also be taught the importance of home care and child care, the thing you said he should say more of. The post is about making it more acceptable or popular for women and men to do things outside of their gender roles. When he says it should be more popular for women to be breadwinners I don't think he means for women to be breadwinners, do all the chores and raise a baby while men should do the minimum. That seems like an uncharitable read of op's text. But maybe I'm too …

Idk why you think that women doing more housework 100% means men are not holding up to their end in other things. Are you anti-feminist btw? Why do you want to wait for a vague goal for men before "being tested equally". Also I assume that when op said men and women can do what they do best that also means it becomes easier for men to do the housework, as in they can change gender roles if that works. He was asking for more acceptance for women taking on responsibilities that men usually have an…

They've said already above. Women do important shit like nursing, teaching and caregiving. Saying the most important jobs are mostly held by men could be debated but presuming that women have NO important jobs is wild. Also in a capitalist economy, any participation is pretty important.

That's kind of a different solution too, albeit a depressing one. If men not only began to hype each other up AND peaced out of the dating market, then we get cool guys helping each other through life if they end up single, and a small possibility that women experiencing a level of romantic and sexual frustration on the level of men might change their perspectives on men. Although women might still not experience it the way men do cuz they get to point the finger anyway, which is why ANOTHER sol…

It's difficult to say that though because it's possible that in many of those relationships the man also had trouble with their partner making more. I'll have to look this up again, but from what I remember the stats people use to talk about higher divorce in female breadwinner relationships is a little outdated. Older couples married in between the 70s and 90s divorced more than people who married after that point. Could be a good sign of things changing

When you say women, do you mean most women? Half? Every single one of them?

Yeah I totally agree on the how you do it part. I think the dating/gender stuff would be a little less toxic if people expressed their preferences without putting down others. However, despite both being kinda shallow, there's one advantage to how women's appearance is judged. Variety. Men like tall girls, short girls, fat girls, melons, kiwis and have a fetish for all sorts of physical traits. The big ones for men are things like money, height, and confidence, and those things move in one direc…

If we're accepting anecdotes, my first job I remember after a year there was an older woman who was shocked I hadn't moved up to a higher position. I turned so fucking red with embarrassment after she criticized me lol. When I was going through mental episodes and was working less hours, I had another co worker also express criticism, but at least afterwards he tried giving me advice so it came from a good place I guess. The same guy who tried helping me be better had a girlfriend who only worke…

Motherhood is highly praised isn't it? Cooking and watching over your kids is pretty basic too, but we should still give shout outs to moms right. And Dads maybe?

I agree with pretty much everything you've said. However I think the impulse for women to say "there's not much we can do" can also have have some subconscious negative intent. When minority groups face descrimination we don't tend to end the conversation by stating how useless we are because we can't start a movement for them. We can be participants by calling out the negatives, being empathetic and policing our own. Feminists have definitely asked for men's help before by saying that men shoul…

I didn't think this one would get contentious lol. I don't think this post was a very big complaint to women, but I will say I first agreed with the men on this. After reading some comments I agree it's better to have that choice.

I don't think it's that men don't care about those things. It's just that it doesn't make or break a relationship for them. Those things tend to help men navigate certain things in a relationship. People phrase it weird by saying "men don't care" rather than saying those things are not triggers for men to pursue.
