Yeah, and I bet if I mention men's mental health awareness month in queer spaces, I'll get a lot of pushback and be told that men's mental health awareness month is used to "erase" pride month, even though I'm queer myself.

I'm really disappointed by the comments in this post. In today's world, both in Western and non-Western countries, gay men face much greater disadvantages than straight men, especially in third-world countries. Even in Western societies many (cis)straight men are still homophobic, and if you're not willing to acknowledge that, how can you even call yourself a left-wing male advocate?

I'm also a queer person but honestly I don't like most queer spaces. People there always claim that misandry doesn't exist or make gender essentialist comments about men while packaging it as progressive views. Radical feminism is becoming more and more common in queer/trans spaces. Some trans women hate trans men simply because they’re men. They don't even say "cis straight men" anymore, they just say "men" which means queer men as an oppressed minority are also held responsible for so-called "men's violence". But even claiming that all cis straight men are rapists is still completely bioessentialist and misandrist.

I’ve discussed this with some queer groups. When I asked whether it’s misgendering to say that trans men experience misogyny, they responded that cis men can also experience misogyny, so there’s no problem saying trans men experience it. I've noticed they tend to classify all forms of oppression faced by LGBTQ+ people as some form of misogyny. Homophobia? Essentially misogyny. Transphobia? Also essentially misogyny.

Since these spaces are mainly made up of women (both cis and trans) and femme-presenting nonbinary people, and since most trans women online are transbians, they may end up looking down on other queer people, especially masc queer people. Cis queer women can be transphobic too. There are plenty of transphobic lesbians out there. Blaming all the bigotry on men just lets cis women avoid taking responsibility for their own transphobia.

Ironically, if you suggest that trans women can experience misandry, they'll push back hard. I feel like a lot of these so-called queer groups claim to respect trans men's gender identity, but they don’t really see trans men as men. It's like they view all trans people as some form of woman.

Basically, this community is really into playing oppression Olympics, where all men are seen as "more privileged" than women of the same identity, even though that's not actually true.
