I've definitely considered CBD. I'll talk about it with my psychiatrist to make sure that it won't effect any meds and maybe I'll give it a try. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It makes me feel a little less alone. <3

Thank you for sharing your experience, it helps me feel some hope for improvement. I definitely understand the pain that abusive behavior causes, and so I appreciate the posts here calling that out. It’s a start in the right direction.

Thank you very much for your advice. I absolutely do tell him that I know that the behavior is unacceptable, because it is. I know that deep down. I will make sure he knows that what I say is not true. And I will absolutely try your practical tips. I appreciate your advice a lot.

Thank you very much for the kind words and the advice. I will definitely try to take that approach with my new therapist, and maybe that will help. And I will talk with my husband. Thank you.

I have done DBT and CBT therapy. It did help a bit, but like I said in another reply: this is why I struggle with therapy. None of the therapists I have been to (three in total) have taken this behavior very seriously. They treat it like I just have some minor anger issues. Hearing people here call this behavior abusive is a first for me. Not to say that isn’t true, which is likely is, which is shredding up my heart… That being said, I struggle to trust therapists that can’t be honest. What peop…

This is absolutely part of why I struggle with therapy. I have told my therapists about this behavior and they have never been as honest as the posts here. They have never labeled this abuse, i’m assuming because i’m female. Im shaking from how horrible I feel. I was a victim of abuse as a child and it’s breaking my heart that i can’t control this. I really do appreciate your advice, and I will put more effort into removing myself from the situation in the future. I really do try to go into a di…

I appreciate your honesty. I am seeking professional help for this, but I figured it was worth asking for outside advice. I am doing everything in my power to change. I will add that since reading through these comments, I have told my husband that I need time away from him (not separation or anything, just space) to figure out how to deal with this. I’m not going allow him to be in this situation anymore. I really do appreciate all the honesty here.

Thank you for the reply, I am seeing a professional so I appreciate the encouragement.

Well, marriage is fraught with mistakes and issues. That's how it works when you're partnered with literally any other human being. They're going to be stupid and imperfect. So are you. That's really what it comes down to. So long as these issues are not a reason for you to consider divorce, you need to understand that you could easily make equally catastrophic mistakes. As for the actual act of forgiving the mistakes: Realize that he knows these things were mistakes, and mistakes are learning o…

I also have a lot going on, with full time work, full time school, and extracurriculars. What helps me is thinking in one hour increments. What do I need to do in the next hour? Not the next five, because I will get overwhelmed. And I try to keep things planned out, that way activities/responsibilities don't start overlapping too much. But also, breathe. Take one minute to breathe in for four seconds through your nose, and eight seconds out through your mouth. Do this three times. Or, do a physi…

Well, i did not adopt, but i did give a child up for adoption. So maybe i can give you some info to help you make up your mind. In talking to the parents (who also have three biological children), there are a few things to note. Firstly, it’s expensive. $30,000 expensive. Secondly, you’re probably gonna wait a long time. There are a lot more families waiting to adopt than there are mothers willing to give up their kids. Thirdly, the legal process could be really complicated. It’s pretty rare tha…

It’s a weird thing to say, for sure, but he is just being honest. I, personally, would be more concerned with the fact that he thinks that of you at all. I would ask him why he thinks you would have been receptive to that sort of thing. bring it up calmly and with a good attitude, otherwise he’ll just shut down again.

I’ll let things go until someone is actively attempting to damage me. A recent example is that I had a coworker that was actively attempting to get me in trouble at work and turning people against me. Now, she is not the only one at work who talks smack. Pretty much everyone in my department complains constantly, but i don’t care about that because it doesn’t actually effect me. But the moment she started telling me that she was going to report me, that i was doing things incorrectly and trying …

My husband proposed within nine months of our relationship. We took two years to actually tie the knot, but his commitment and loyalty were never in question for a moment. As for conversation, it was like meeting up with someone i’d known for years. We immediately had inside jokes, would talk for seven hours at a time, uninterrupted (still do). But we also have long bouts of alone time, which we both need a lot of. So it works out. As for dates, we didn’t try too hard. They were simple outings t…

lol not “any woman”. obviously there are still criteria for attractiveness. you’re not gonna see a lot of 40 year old women do escorting or only fans. however, there is a lower threshold for men than for women. men are generally looking for young and fertile women. sure there can be other preferences involved, but those are two pretty universal traits that are desired. women universally desire a man that can provide for her and her family, who is physically capable of protecting them (which is w…

sure, it’s hugely convenient to have birth control on an individual level. a lot of women in the past were having, like, twelve kids. which is bananas. however, we also have to think in the macro. birth control has effected the population as a whole in that women are having kids with men they wouldn’t normally sleep with, which brings down the quality of our genetics. the use of birth control has also led to quite a lot of casual sex outside of marriage, which leads to many fatherless homes (you…

i think that there are pros and cons to any situation, much the same as when humanity leaped into the iron age. we are living at the very beginning of the digital age, which feels very special. i agree with The9thElement that life was indeed harder in a lot of ways a few short decades ago, and that living in this time is not as bad as people make it seem. however, life being harder does not mean it was worse. i think that women are struggling to find meaning with the death of full time home maki…

It's really not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Of course, everyone's pregnancy is different but I think more women would be willing if the process wasn't so demonized. Realistically, the first three months are annoying if you have morning sickness; and the last month is difficult because of bloating and the fact that you can't stand or walk for more than fifteen to twenty minutes. That's really the worst of it outside of the actual birth process. Edit: also heartburn.... That was pretty …

It's bragging if you're bringing it up unprovoked. If someone is engaging you in the discussion, it's free reign. And maybe your perspective can help change some of their minds about kids!

My advice would be to become the positive voice. I was pregnant last year, had the same experience as you with negativity, and I had to be the one who shifted the perspective. If someone gave me a horror story I'd simply say "Sorry that happened to you, my pregnancy is going great." And if they were just being generally negative by bringing up health issues and such, I'd just hit 'em with a smile and a "I don't care." After enough times of this happening, people just stopped talking about it. If…

Platforms like Reddit purport to be bastions of free speech, and subsequently ban anything that makes them uncomfortable. I'm not sure if that's going to change, and what effect that's going to have on a place like this. Things might be shifting with events such as Elon Musk buying majority shares of Twitter, but only time will tell. Frankly, I'm shocked that this sub has lasted as long as it has, so any amount of time that it remains active is a blessing to those who need it.

Daily Wire is coming out with children's programming soon for just this reason! I think they're introducing two shows. Other than that, you could invest in some throwback DVD's to old cartoons, you could do Veggie Tales, you could put on some nature/history documentaries, which I loved at that age. Play around with some educational stuff to help him figure out what interests him. Not sure if he's a reader, but you could also try getting him some fun books, which are a little easier to pre-screen…

People do not "change" when they get drunk, they simply become more honest. This guy sounds like a nightmare.

I have an incredibly difficult time understanding why on earth a man would propose to a woman he has no intention of marrying. I'm gonna break some stuff down here... He is not wrong in the fact that "marriage is a woman's thing". It was invented for the sake of keeping a man around after a child is born to protect the woman and child instead of just dipping out and having kids with more women. Marriage creates consequences and responsibility, in return for the promise of consistent sex and the …

Do you guys ever have a genuinely good time together? I've found that the times in which I've felt emotional distance from my husband is when we are taking things too seriously, and therefore we aren't being friends with each other. It's great to work on your issues, but overworking it can lead to things feeling sterile and cold. I know you guys are long distance right now, but find some ways to lighten the mood. Watch a movie at the same time while on Zoom, write a story together (like you writ…
