I don't really follow why this is such a bad thing. I mean, you're allowed to decide who does or doesn't come into your house, right? So if you legally own property, why shouldn't you be able to only lease it to whom you wish? If you want to discriminate, fine, you simply eliminate potential tenants, but you could do so if you wish on your own land.

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing how tankjr's getting so many downvotes for this. I genuinely thought this was the law; If you only want to lease your property to one gender, fine, you just eliminate half the potential tenants, but you still can if you wish to. I mean, it is someone's house; they can choose what to do with it.

I think it comes down to personal experiences. Odds are if you're male and have never been in prison you've never really been in a situation where you're actually scared of being sexually assaulted by someone. I would go so far as to say that most, or at least a large minority, of women have at some point in their life felt scared that something might happen against their consent, and even though nothing does happen in most cases, they're still going to be far more scared than a man is if a cop …
