Just add a # at the beginning of the line of text #Like this (Backslash to 'escape" formatting characters = how you can see that written out) For any formatting trick you see in the wild though, simply view the source of the comment -- I don't remember the phrasing on the website, but it's always one of the few options available for any comment

Pretty sure a 13 year old can be accused of rape... and he's certainly not trying to hide his age from anyone From his last edits, this seems to be typical teenage drama that's gotten out of hand, which hopefully counts as (relatively) good news and doesn't blow up again... but let's not be dismissive of potential / serious victimhood just because somebody's on the younger side!

It's literally called that. In England and Wales, the average life sentence prisoner serves around 15 to 20 years before being paroled, although those convicted of exceptionally grave crimes remain behind bars for considerably longer Life imprisonment in England and Wales

As long as the benefits are equally available, which they are, I have no problem with the fact that some people use more than others.

Thia has been fun and all, but I have been arguing in favor of using the separate terms this whole time. You may re-rest your case, or whatever

There's value in distinguishing literally any two separate and distinct things. Of course, yes.

Thank you for the added clarity! Even more precision available in the language then, and I'm all for that. which is of course why I'm willing to make the distinction because I think it's an important one. 100% with you! I can't imagine anyone saying or believing that attraction to 8 year olds is the same as attraction to 14 year olds! Being different things, they shouldn't share a label.. just seems like simple, common sense. I would love to know more about your book, if possible? Totally unders…

Psst, you're doing it wrong. Usually, when someone "rests their case," it's after they have.. you know, stated some sort of case. You have asked a couple questions.. Anyway, here's where I say I have no personal problem whatsoever with homosexuality, and then you think you're cleverly flipping it on me by pointing out that pedophilia and ephebophilia are no more a choice for those affected than is homosexuality or heterosexuality, etc. Then, in response, I'll point out that even hardcore Christi…

Is this going anywhere? I'm talking about the value of distinguishing between pedophilia and ephebophilia. The only value judgment that's even remotely relevant is a comparison of those two things. Whether they're both pretty amazing or the most horrible sin imaginable is not important, only the delta between the two.

I would think not, anymore than anyone else can choose their sexual orientation / what attracts them, including pedophilia and ephebophilia. But does homosexuality have anything at all to do with either of those?
/r/MensRights29/11/18 11:44 PM

No, but maybe a logophile? I'll argue in favor of precise language in any context. Ephebophilia and pedophilia are both disturbing and disgusting, IMO the latter being far worse still, but value judgments are completely irrelevant to the point: they're inarguably distinct from one another, therefore unique labels apply, period. Is there a single valid argument against differentiating between the two? Even if we made value judgments relevant for the sake of argument...

God, I hope you don't try to portray yourself as reasonable in other conversations. That's a ridiculous statement and you know it.

Just to be clear then, a. if you think you were = you were b. if you're not sure = you weren't c. therefore, if you think you were + but you're not sure, then .. ??? So maybe let's just stick with A ... and that's probably perfect 99% of the time, even. I think Chaz_210's comment was meant to address the 1% though? I definitely didn't see anything like the equating you referred to in your reply, but maybe I misunderstood that. What if a man and woman have sex, and it's 100% consensual except no …

Comments are not actions, true; but cultures aren't formed exclusively from actions either -- things like social norms, language, perceptions, and attitudes contribute just as much or more to the makeup of any culture (I'd argue "more," with actions resulting from these), rape culture included. Whether or not someone "believes in" rape culture, it's largely defined by exactly the sort of thing captured in the screenshots, e.g. normalization / trivialization of rape, sexual objectification, etc.

In my case, I've learned that I'd exclude the "family aside" piece of your comment. Unfortunately, it turns out even family can take advantage of one's generosity, maybe even exploit the notion that family should be inherently more trustworthy... on the flip side though, because he had no lease and paid no rent, at least I reserved the right to kick him out without a moment's notice. Fortunately, it didn't come to that (but very close!).

I was thinking the same. Maybe it'll shine a light on the inequity when they're forced to actually think about it.

WTF, seriously? I just put my brother up for more than twice that as he looked for a job. Would I be screwed if I'd done that for a female friend in Australia (I'm male)? or is it the sort where we'd need to "act like a married couple" as well?

I'm making this post just to congratulate an honest man. Seriously, "free" money is hard for most people to turn away, and especially when (just as you said) everyone around you assures you it's yours in the first place. I'd like to I'd pass that test too, but the fact is I'm a male and I do somewhat OK financially. Like everyone else, I'm blinded by my own life's circumstances from making sweeping statements about how I'd handle a situation in someone else's shoes. None of this makes undue chil…

I'm late to the party, and I probably won't say too much more than many others already have, but OP I hope you read this all the same: Congratulations! Not just for avoiding ridiculous legal concerns / needless payments, but also for giving your son a very rational and thoughtful mother. Between she and you, that boy's in a hell of a good position. I've been split with my son's mom since he was about a year old. Not dissimilar situations: we were never "meant to be" together, and we knew that fr…

More to the point of his discussion, separate inherently meant unequal treatment under the law. In the case of the gym, the only separate but equal approach possible would have to be something like alternating weeks (same days, same times), and even then I'd expect some solid arguments against it (beyond the obvious one of 50% availability).

For context then, how many lawyers do you know? Because despite their reputation, which is part well-earned by loud minority / part scapegoating as they exist in the context of our overly-litigious society in general, there are many lawyers who really truly do it because they want to have a positive impact in society: To help people and other related (but apparently unbelievable) ends.
