8	TIL the dowry was NOT a means by which men "purchased" their wives. Instead it was the wife's family that provided for the new family to start out as well as compensation for her incase something happened to the husband. I've been told for years that the dowry system was only one way husband to father transaction as a quasi purchase of women between men. 2	A Female Firefighter in Action I appreciate what your saying, and you've made some valid point, however I think perhaps your view of the fire service might be a bit narrow. We do more than put fires out these days, we are first response for all emergencies including hazardous material leaks, car accidents, medical co responce etc. I agree with you that there are occasions where nothing but brute strength is needed to make the situation less bad. 2	A Female Firefighter in Action Like I said, in our station, putting out fires is only one aspect of what we respond to. I'm not sure what kind of fires your putting out with only two guys but I would suggest a larger crew would probably get the job done quicker, easier and safer. 2	A Female Firefighter in Action As a paid ff this vid is rubbish. I work with several female FFs and just like the guys you get good ones and bad ones. Running into burning buildings is only one of the many other tasks we need to do. It's absolutly true most men are physically superior, FFing has always been a team sport though and honestly with modern tech and equipment the the playing field is getting more even. 3	This week on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's show "Know Your Rights": the right to be free of discrimination based on sex or age Yea I listened to it as it aired and the initial tone was the common 'woe is woman' theme, however to CBC's credit they (albeit half-heartedly) attempt to bring up male issues when they have these types of gender discussions. 0	Mothers can have parental leave from work. Fathers can't and this girl is making them feel guilty over not waking up if they have to rest for work. She also doesn't accept criticism in comments. Guys, turn off your filter for just a second and try to hear with this piece is saying. 1	Preparing for massive downvotes, but would like to share my opinion To be honest I had a very similar opinion as you do right now, as a man I was convinced early on, that my gender did only bad things for women and women needed to be saved and empowered. I agreed.
