Depends. If you got a balcony or deck, definitely get some buckets from the hardware store and try some tomatoes at the very least if you want to try vegetables. They are insanely easy. Potatoes are also simple to grow. Corn in a bucket is never as big as the farm stuff, but it's fun to start out with as well. Regular houseplants?
