The state doesn't, by definition, have a monopoly on coercion, as it can be coerced by votes, or, if need arises, even by riots and revolution. It's my opinion that the state (some states, do not generalize, not all states work the same) needs a redefinition of its priorities, and some of its powers, through coercion by the people, but not the abolition of the state itself. Cause let me tell you (as a European), some aspects of the state are pretty fucking sweet. The trick is to find the balance…

You are showing me why we should roll back some aspects of the state, you're still far from why we should roll back the state itself. Like I said, the state is not inherently benevolent nor is it inherently evil. Some laws should be scrapped and there are also laws that should be added, whether in the interest of the MRM or in the interest of everyone. This is not some black and white bullshit which should be easy to perfect, and to say otherwise is senseless simplification.

I hate arguing politics and I abhor what the MRM will most likely become with time, but since this is an issue of some importance here's my two cents: Firstly, I can't get behind Classical Liberalism. I think it's naive and un-nuanced to portray government as some grand inherent evil and the idea that therefore positive rights are some bad thing sounds like a whole boatload of wut to me. My more important point, and maybe I'm reading this wrong, is that we're essentially beating a straw man here…

Or, you know, the law enforcement just pushes the market underground, exacerbating the already poor safety conditions, funneling government money in a non-winnable "war against prostitution" and filling the prison system needlessly. Or you can legalize and regulate prostitution like several European countries have already done, getting prostitutes tested for disease and generally making it safer for everyone without telling people what to do.

As a non-American, I can't help but raise an eyebrow every time US politics enter the conversation. I know if politicization isn't an issue for the MRM right now, it'll soon enough become one. If it gains momentum, it'll most probably be unavoidable. Just bear in mind that Men's Rights is a movement that should span global discourse and also that the Dem/GOP divide isn't exactly the same as the left/right divide.

But why a book? I find the internet to be a much better place to scour for information. Faster, doesn't take up space, searchable, cheaper, possesses a greater deal of info and can be discussed easily with other people. Really, most of the actual books I keep around are either novels, pre-internet, or books I couldn't find in digital format.

Obviously liberalism and conservatism mean different things to different people. Especially to us non-Americans, this entire liberalism = feminism deal can sound ridiculous. This article is so damn ironic. What I gathered from this is that women's liberation has actually liberated men a lot more. So now men find their own happiness outside the "patriarchal" marriage construct, and the women are angry because the "patriarchal" marriage construct has failed. Go figure.
