4	New writer Maggie Mellon at A Voice for Male Students calls out double standards regarding rape and speaks up for the wrongly accused: "if women cannot/will not take responsibility for their own actions in the bedroom, why/how do we expect to be treated any differently in the boardroom?" I know of one young woman who has sent 4 different men to prison, for sexual assault, on 4 different occasions. Mostly, because they did something to piss her off. It's pretty safe to say they reacted accordingly and therefore she's to blame for placing the pre-assumptions into the minds of the officers that showed up. We get it. If there's any possible way a woman can be blamed for a bad outcome, then all the fault lies with her. As I said before, news articles frequently refer to men as victims, and it's ludicrous to claim otherwise. There's little evidence that the "women and children" phrase is used to "reinforce the disposability of men" in this case, as there's at least two other very good reasons why the writer would choose to use that phrase: a.) 12 out of the 16 victims were women and children. Arguably one of the worst articles I've read in my life. the White American Male must fight his way through a litany of taunts, assumptions and grievances about his very existence. His oppression is unlike anything American women have faced. She's clearly singling out white men. I will not argue that black men face significant discrimination, nor that there are not legitimate men's rights issues. 1	"War on Men? Yeah, Not So Much." Arguably one of the worst articles I've read in my life. That's because the Venker piece (which this article was responding to) explicitly claimed that white men are oppressed second-class citizens. She did not mention sky-high incarceration rates, racial profiling, etc. - issues that are virtually endemic to black males - but solely focused on how American white men are literally the most oppressed people in the country, because sitcoms don't portray white men as perfect human beings and all that jazz.	/r/MensRights	26/07/13 05:26 PM
