That sucks. Why didn't you just take the small offer and continue to apply? Use the name. I'm in your shoe right now. Recently got an extremely small remote contract that could lead into an in house position. Switched to a whole new field (which I won't mention) and taught myself. I been unemployed for so much longer than you so I sympathize. You don't want sympathy but I literally feel it anyways.

I relate to this, except for me I had the huge advantage of not knowing english and so my childhood rowdiness was beaten out of me by social isolation.
